Prettysmile40 :  That’s great!! I found that after 1+ year with my fertility clinic, I had much less questions and concerns starting IVF. Everything was explained to us with great reassurance. IVF was not at all what I thought it would be. It was much easier than I thought and had Googled, lol.

Good luck to you and I hope you have an awesome IVF cycle! 🙂

Good luck, hope it works out quickly for you!  I would caution anyone starting IVF to keep expectations realistic though.  Maybe it was just me, but when I first started out, I was so excited and thought IVF was the fix all that would just work.  It didn’t even cross my mind that it could fail.   But it doesn’t always work out.. and I recall being so shocked and crushed when it didn’t just work.  As always, hope for the best, but be prepared for the worse.

I’m just finishing up my first round of IVF (beta is tomorrow). I have to echo what @pinkshoes said above about keeping expectations realistic, because things have not gone for me like I thought they would. But I have no regrets about moving onto IVF when we did because I really believe anything else would have been a waste of time. Even if this cycle fails (which I think it will), it feels really good to be proactive and to know that we’re doing everything we can.

Things that have helped me this cycle:

  • the IVF meditation program by Circle + Bloom; I’ve really enjoyed this even though it’s like $50 or something (although I confess I stopped listening after transfer because I was feeling so pessimistic)
  • stretchy pants
  • binge watching reality TV with my husband
  • indulging in fun distractions like jigsaw puzzles, video games, reading a good book, whatever I feel like
  • Resolve meetings (infertility support, maybe there’s a group in your area)

Good luck and I’m hoping good things for you!

Prettysmile40 :  Its a big step so I wanted to say good luck with your IVF journey.  I did my ER in June and since then I’ve had one cancelled fresh transfer, one failed FET and we just tranferred our second and last FET on Sunday.  I’d say expect things to change, not everything goes according to schedule, expect your body to react to the meds wonderfully, but also expect it not to.  It can be an easy ride for some and hard for others.  And that’s okay, because it really is out of your hands.  I wish you the best of luck and I hope your first attempt sticks 🙂 xoxo
