Don’t know whether or not to be “excited” about this latest development, but FWIW, I will be starting my first round of Clomid this cycle. I start my period today or tomorrow, after a hellish 70+ day cycle. We are going to try two cycles of Clomid and BD before doing IUI, if needed.
Anyone have any advice? What to expect? Side effects? SUCCESS STORIES?!?!

Good luck! I had a couple rounds of clomid and eventually got KU via clomid, metformin, ovidrel and IUI. I really hope one round of clomid is all it takes. Oh, and I only had side effects when I took it with the metformin (the combo caused me to vomit) but otherwise, I never had any side effects.

I started my first round of clomid this cycle as well. I’m taking my last pill tonight (days 3-7). My last cycle was 114 days and only ended thanks to provera, so I feel your pain there! Anyway, from my googling, it looked like the general consensus was to take the clomid at night before bed. I definitely advise this! When I wake up in the middle of the night to pee, I feel horrible, but quickly fall back to sleep. When I wake up in the morning, I feel fine. Good luck with the clomid! I hope we’re both lucky for our first cycle taking it!

@sheclicksherheels: Good luck to the both of us! I’m still waiting for AF to arrive!
@BOGB: Thanks, I hope so, too!

@lovelyrose: Success story here! 🙂 I got pregnant on my first round! I’m still early in the pregnancy (6.5 weeks) but it’s incredibly great to know I can actually finally get pregnant.
I was very moody for around 5 days after finishing my clomid pills. I don’t think I had any other symptoms luckily…take the pills at night instead of morning (if that’s ok with your doctor) cause I hear that helps with side effects such as hot flashes, etc…
Do you mind me asking, why are you only going to try 2 rounds of clomid? Why not go for at least 3? Many women get pregnant on their third round.

@lovelyrose: I took 3 rounds of clomid, and wanted to share my side effect. I became very irrational and sad after I finished the last pill each cycle. Thankfully, that feeling only lasts a day or two, but just wanted you to know it’s normal to feel really down at that time. Other than that, I didn’t have any awful side effects. Best wishes for a fast bfp for you! 🙂

I’m on round 2, in the tww. hoping for success this time. Didn’t have bad side effects, also took at night. My Dr said it works on the third month for many people, so it might be something to consider. I’m hoping we don’t need the third month.

I also recommend taking them in the evening, about an hour before bed. I didn’t have any side affects other than some mild depression. Unfortunately, I cannot offer a success story, but there are plenty out there! Hope you will be one of them. Good luck, FX!

I had no side effects and took it in the evening around 8pm. My first cycle “worked” in that it got me to ovulate on CD18 (I had 2 90+ day cycles, followed by 3 45-50 day cycles so my OB said to try Clomid). My second cycle didnt work in either sense of the word since I didn’t ovulate until CD35. My OB decided not to perscribe a 3rd round and refered me to an RE instead. If you’re not using OPKs, I’d pick those up to help monitor since I read many people still don’t ovulate CD14 like many doctors may think or want on Clomid.

I am on my 1st round of clomid too! CD16 and no sign of O so I am getting a little nervous. The only symptom I had were horrible headaches for the 5 days of the pills. Went away the first day I stopped taking them. FX for all the ladies this month!

I only had hot flashes during the night. I also would suggest taking it before bed. First cycle I was on it I took it days 5-9, second cycle and BFP I took it 3-7. Best of luck!

@Evie19: I don’t know why she said two months, and I’m not totally against a third month. I will talk to her about it next time I see her.
CD1 today! I’m taking Clomid days 5 – 9 and will follow everyone’s advice and take it at night to try and mitigate the side effects.
Question: taking it 5 – 9, when should I expect (or hope?) to O?

@princessbelle: Yay Clomid Buddies! I hope you O soon and that we both get our BFPs ASAP! Good luck and baby dust!

Like @princessbelle: I am on my first round, and am getting a little worried as there have been no signs of O. (I’m on CD19). However, this is my first cycle (after taking provera) in over a YEAR so I expect that it will may take a double, or triple, dose to make me O.
As far as side effects go, I only expereinced hot flashes, like a few others have mentioned.
