I’m so sorry, that’s awful. 🙁

I’d start looking around at local jewellers. It’s been my experience that generally, since this is their personal livelihood, they tend to be much more knowledgeable than most sales clerks who work for a chain and also offer better quality jewelry, sometimes for a better price.

@redapple:  Wow I thought by the title that you two ended things! I am relieved to say the least! BUT, very sad that you are having to deal with such poor customer service and poor quality! What did this ring look like?

@redapple:  I am so sorry you have been jerked around by these second rate jewelers, especially at what is supposed to be a happy time in your life.
I highly HIGHLY recommend bluenile.ca.  My fiance got my ring from there and it is perfect.  So did his sister’s fiance.  They are amazing, seriously.  Mr Sakurabean had to call a few times and he said their customer service was second to none.  Their prices are great too.  While I don’t know exactly how much he spent, he assured me he didn’t go over my 2K budget and it was appraised at 5.  And the diamond is stunning, full of fire and rainbows I always say!  I have been wearing it non-stop since September and it is still as beautiful as the day I got it.
They also have a great return policy (not that I had to use it but other online reviewers say they did with no issues) and if it doesn’t fit you get one free resize (although you do have to pay to insure the shipping) or you can have it resized at a local jeweler.  Obviously not the one you went to, but if you do a google search you can find reviews of other jewelers and generally they are pretty accurate, as people have no shame in being honest online!  It will give you a better sense of where to go.  Then if you need it resized talk to the jeweler first and ask to see photos/credentials/customer testimonials to be assured of their work.
I really hope things work out, and that this is a minor hiccup in an otherwise happy engagement and marriage!

@redapple:  I am so sorry you had so much trouble, thank god you got your money back! We initially bought at a local chain jewelry store also and though I had no stones fall out , I did my research and found the quality poor for the cost. We impulse bought (we were excited to be engaged) and really should have done some research before we bought anything. Long story short , we also got a refund and ended up ordering my ring from Blue Nile. I am extremely happy it ended up the way it did even though I was also without a ring for awhile because we got a MUCH higher quality ring for our money. I was nervous ordering online but it turned out great for us and we will be ordering my wedding ring from them too. I would suggest Blue Nile, James Allen, Good Old Gold, or Whiteflash, I know there are some others but these places are highly reviewed , also there is some great info on Pricescope. Good Luck and I hope you find something you will love!
