I have a question . . I was taking Yazmin, but kept getting terrible headaches so about 1.5 month before my annual, I just stopped taking them. When my gyno found out why, he prescribed me Lo Loestrin FE. With no birth control (not having sex so not worried about pregnancy), I only have a period like every 45 days. He told me to start taking the Lo Loestrin FE on the first day I see blood.
Yesterday, I started spotting, but not really started, but I read the booklet that came with it and it says it is crucial to start the moment you see blood otherwise it is ineffective so I took one last night and one this morning. . .
Now it is like my period is gone. Like I put on a pad, and there is a little blood, but that’s it. . for all last night and today which is fine. But I can’t figure out when I should have a real period next since there is only 2 days of inactive pills.
My question is when do you have a period on this bc? Just the 2 days of inactive pills? I get married in a month and The day of my wedding would be day 2 of a new pack and I don’t wanna be on my period. lol. But I also don’t want to get pregnant of my wedding night.
Anyone know anything about lo loestrin fe?

I was on the generic of Loestrin FE (Microgestin FE) for about a year, and had no problems. After a few months of being on it I sometimes had months where I would get zero withdrawal bleeding during the week of my inactive pills, or would have very little spotting.
I am a little confused as to what you mean by 2 days of inactive pills? I had a full week of inactive pills on Loestrin.
What day you get your period depends entirely on how your body reacts. You might get it the second day of the inactive pills, or the 5th day. Or you might not get it at all (I hear it’s pretty common for women to have very light or no bleeding on Loestrin).
For your wedding you can ask your Dr. if you can skip the inactive pills altogether and go straight to a new pack. My Dr. said this is okay, and I’ll do it from time to time if I don’t want to get my period for a specific reason.
As for whether or not you should continue taking the pills, I would continue to take them normally, but call your Dr. to make sure!

I think there is a difference between Loestrin and Lo Loestrin. I only have 2 days of inactive pills. My doctor explained it has something to do with the way estrogen (or the lack of) gives me headaches so only 2 days without hormones would be better for my body.
Since there is only 2 days of inactive pills, I can’t figure out when you actually have a period. I read a few sites and it seems to be common to have break through bleeding all month or not have a period at all. So I was wondering if anyone knew when you are SUPPOSED to have a period.
I know on yazmin, which is 7 days of inactive pills, you start one day during that week. Like I always started on Tuesdays, but my friend who took yazmin always started on Mondays.
Hopefully that clarifies the confusion.

Oh! I totally didn’t see the Lo in front of the Loestrin the first read through 😛 I’m sorry!
I have no experience with that pill, but there probably isn’t a set day where you’re supposed to get it. I know I was on a different pill, but there were a couple times I would forget to take a pill two days in a row, and I had zero bleeding after. I would think because there’s such a short window of inactive pills, it’s probably more likely to not have a period. But again, it really depends on how your body reacts.

I understand. I read some sites which say there are women who don’t have periods at all and others who say women have breakthrough bleeding the entire month and with my wedding so close, I just want to know when I’ll be having a period.

I believe I took LoLoestrin FE for a while. I still got my period, usually after the inactive pills. My BC periods always start a couple days after I go back on the active pills.

I was on LoEstrin for 2 years. (I recently quit because we’re TTC.) The first couple months my period was really light, then it mostly stopped. The majority of the time I was on LoEstrin I didn’t have a period at all; every couple months I had a little bit of spotting but that’s it.

@MrsSaltWaterTaffy:Thanks. I hope I don’t start a couple of days after the inactive pills. But with my other bc, I never did so maybe I won’t.
@abbyful: Thanks. I like having a period for that reassurance that everything is okay at the end of the month, but I’ll be extremely happy to not be on my period my wedding night. Good luck on TTC! 🙂

I’m sure it depends on your body. You’ll probably be the same on any type of pill but going to one with less hormones may cause you to spot without any real schedule. I know it happened for me.
