Just wanted to chime with the bees who said there’s still time. I got engaged 9 months before my wedding and the big stuff planned quickly (venue, caterer, dj, etc.). I walked out of my first visit to a dress shop (David’s Bridal) with my dress in hand. It can be done!

I’d try to start booking the big stuff (venue, ceremony site, caterer, photographer, DJ, etc) ASAP, especially because you have a very particular date in mind and time is running short. Hopefully picking a Sunday will work out in your favor and nothing will be booked up yet.

@StarIzInkd:  We’re date twins! I’m also getting married on L.I. Smile If you haven’t already booked your venue, you should worry about that first especially since it is a holiday weekend and apparently those book up fast.  Everything else can get done relatively quickly. As far as dresses go, most dress designers will be able to get a custom dress in if you order by end of this month.  It will all work out!

You have over 8 months! Just book a venue and everything will fall into place. Dresses do not take that long at ALL, no matter what the stupid wedding industry tell you.

Remember this:

No one gives a shit about the flowers, the centerpieces, the DIY details, the card basket. No one cares.

All you need is your man, some decent food and booze and maybe some music if you’re into dancing. Nothing else really matters, even though we are convinced it does!
