I’ve had my job for about two years now. When I applied, I was part of the first group of people to work there. We’re situated in the US, however, the customs and practices for the job are European as the owner is. We’ve had our bad days, but for the most part I really like working with everyone there and enjoy interacting with the customers. I know things are not that great monetary wise but they were never from the start. Now, instead of keeping our hours they’ve spent a lot more on marketing (wasted money as it has not helped our numbers at all) and cut all the employees hours save for the manager. We were never making full time hours despite them stating we were full time, but we didn’t complain because we knew money was tight. Now, I’m down $100 per paycheck and it’s making ends meet very difficult.
There’s also pressure to get the same amount of work done in our now reduced time frame. We also don’t get much breaks. We get an hour lunch if we work 9 hours and a half an hour if we work 8. Other than that, we get nothing. I worked 7 hours straight today with no lunch, and no 10/15 minute break either. The manager is getting upset cause we’re not producing as much results as before and has called a staff meeting for Monday evening. Three of us already have plans as it’s not during operational hours (we got our schedule for next week on Thursday) and the manager has announced that it’s not our decision to decide when we can work or not and it doesn’t matter if meetings are during the work day.
I’m currently looking for another job. 🙁 Is there anything else I can do in the mean time?
We have informed her of the problems, but nothing gets changed.
