My fiancé and I are strongly considering Starved Rock Lodge and Conference Center in Utica, IL for our wedding next year. We’d have the ceremony and reception there. I was hoping to find some ladies who have held their weddings or are in the process of planning their weddings at this venue to get some idea of what to expect during the planning process.
Right now I have a specific question about chairs… The informational email I was sent said the ceremony chairs aren’t included in the rental fee… does anyone know how much per chair they will cost me? I also am wondering about reception chairs. I have seen photos of standard banquet chairs that aren’t very attractive and other photos of white garden type chairs like the ones they use in the ceremonies (google starved rock lodge wedding to see what I mean). Is there an upcharge for the more attractive white chairs?
Also, does anyone have any tips specific to this venue on saving money? My fiancé and I are paying for most of the wedding costs ourselves and are looking to save money anywhere we can! If not, any tips that aren’t immediately obvious or already all over the internet that save money on weddings is greatly appreciated!!
Final question that’s somewhat unrelated. We had our hearts set on September, 2018 for our wedding. The venue has no Saturdays left the entire year until November, and the only dates left in September are 9/2/18 and 9/14/18 (Sunday and Friday, respectively). We are trying to get the 9/2 date reserved as of now, and everyone I have talked to who is involved/will be attending the wedding are perfectly happy with that, as it is Labor Day weekend and they will have the day off work on Monday. But any comments or opinions about having a wedding the day before Labor Day would be great too!
