I just found out yesterday that here in Oklahoma you are able to book a private event such as a wedding, etc. in the state capital building which is absolutely beautiful. There is a website and you may not be able to get The exact date you want and there are some stipulations about dancing, or alcohol, and other things but here in Oklahoma it is FREE . I didn’t look at the website at the specific different floors but there is the rotunda and I think a parlor or the Capitol grounds Park, but any of them would be gorgeous. Very ornate Details, staircase, and for instance ours there are rotundas and you can look over the railing and see the state symbol on the ground floor. Large portraits of people such as Will Rogers. This would be a great setting for a formal wedding and something to consider.
Check with your state’s capital building or such.

@Oklahomajewel: That’s cool.
Our state (Wisconsin) does also have wedding in the capitol. I’d consider it for mine but the guest size limit for the room is only about 40 or so. But it is a really beautiful place!

I just had to add for Wisconsin brides – weddings in the capitol building are generally limited to 50 guests, however the Assembly room and senate room (and possibly supreme court) in the Capitol is not governed under the same rules and can hold more – I think 100 in the main assembly seats and more in balconies (I’m hoping to check into it). The cost is pretty low for the assembly room, although there’s a big deposit. It’s only available when the state assembly doesn’t need it, and I guess you can get bounced if there’s some emergency session or something.
