What do I think? They’re idiots. But also? Good riddance. Maybe our country would be way better off if they did go and the rest of the country could move forward without being dragged down by ultra conservative policy.

hahahaha ooh jeez… Sick of such extreme measures from adult children who didn’t get their own way. If they want to leave so bad I say let them…

It’s both symbolic and stupid. I say let the secede if they get the signatures, then wage war on their asses (except for Colorado. It’s too pretty to lose… :D)

I think it’s ridiculous. My Mother-In-Law linked to one of these articles and urged her FB friends to sign the petition. We live in a blue state so it won’t make a shred of difference (not that a few hundred signatures in red states will matter either).

It’s really amazed me how crazy people have gotten after this election. You lost, deal with it.

The post-election nastiness has cut both ways. I’ve seen some pretty denigrating things said about the “blue” states.

The main conclusion I draw is that social media gives a platform to a lot of idiots.

@jpalm13:  I’d join you.

In all seriousness, I don’t see this actually happening, but since 2006 I’ve had a little part of my brain thinking it would solve a lot of problem.  It would create more problems than it would solve, maybe, but I’m so done with this two-party system.

I think it’s absolutely awesome! No matter the outcome, I’m just happy that there are people doing something against government. Petitions, rallies and riots make me feel like people haven’t curled up and given up to government ridiculousness. It doesn’t seem like a popular opinion on these boards but I’m all for it (even if it is only 50,000 ppl or so people). I’m tired of people complaining and doing NOTHING. Something is better than nothing.

Personally I think it’s ridiculous when people say this election is about a race thing. Something like 97% of black people voted for Obama. Are they all racist against white people? Maybe people don’t like Obama because they don’t agree with his policies or ideals and not because they are racist.

It’s not states that are petitioning.  It’s people from several different states.  That’s different than the state government trying to secede.  Anyone can make a petition.

Anyway, I’m sure this will die just like every other completely ridiculous petition out there.

This! There are a lot of flakes out there.

@BoiledPNut:  Not everyone in Texas feels this way though! I’d say the vast majority don’t. It’s just the public hears the loud crazy folk instead of the sane ones. 🙂

@chasesgirl:  Love it!!

While I don’t think secession is the answer, I do strongly disagree with the economic direction we are headed. If we keep going down the path of “I’m entitled to x, y, and z just because I’m an American” we won’t have a country eventually. Somebody has to pay for it all, and when almost half of a nation is dependent on it’s government, it’s bad news.

Oh dear. I didn’t realize it was time to party like it’s 1860 again.
