I got married in Charleston so I love it there of course.  It’s beautiful with the history and tons to do.  However, I’ve always wanted to go to Vermont so that’s what I voted for.  I’d love to stay in a cute little bed and breakfast and explore the area.

Maybe the Wisconsin Dells because you already know you love it and you can kill two birds with one stone by attending your cousins reception?

You could book the honeymoon suite at a fancy hotel and go wine tasting or other fun activities. And nice restaraunts, and breakfast with mimosas…you can make any place into your honeymoon place πŸ™‚

Vermont is pretty, lots of historical sights, (nearby to other historical/pretty places:Saratoga). Lots of places to hike and whatnot. Skiing would be out (crossing my fingers anyway, i’m soo sick of the snow! lol) There are some wineries. Within driving distance to NYC and Boston. I’ve never been to the other places you listed. But Vermont is very pretty.

I live in Colorado so I am biased lol! The time you will be coming would be gorgeous in the mountains! Where were you thinking of going in Colorado?

The only problem I have with WI Dells is it is a town of almost 99% (well yea) tourist town and it’s VERY young person-oriented (i.e. lots of kids). Being from WI, I know that for a fact. Nice time, just a warning πŸ™‚

Great choice!  That’s where my parents honeymooned too and Darling Husband and I would LOVE to go there someday!  (We honeymooned to Alaska on a cruise).

We celebrated our 1 yr anniversary there – soooo great. Can I make a suggestion? Don’t stay in Bar Harbor. It’s a tourist trap, loud, etc. Stay in peaceful Northeast Harbor. We stayed at the Colonol’s Suites Inn, and it was AH-mazing. Far away from the crowds, with beautiful water down the street, great gourmet restaurants, little galleries, and very easy access to Acadia. It’s easy to hop over to Bar Harbor if you want to experience that, too, without having to stay in the tourist madness.

I say go with what’s within driving distance so you spend more time honeymooning and less time traveling!  Darling Husband and I did the same thing and loved it.

On a side note, my Darling Husband is military too and we had to put off a real honeymoon until he had more time (he wasn’t deployed but we still had to live apart for the first 10 months of marriage).  And trust me, after only seeing eachother twice in 10 months, our honeymoon felt like anything but a vacation.  It was AWESOME!!!!!  There’s nothing more romantic than finally going on that honeymoon you dreamed about after a long time apart.  πŸ™‚

gotta throw in my vote for charleston – though if you dont like heat july is not the time to go! sooooo hott! but its a lovely city with beaches nearby and site seeing, ghost tours and shopping. you can take carriage rides through the city or just stroll along the waterway. there are so many things to see from fort sumter and the USS Yorktown to boone hall plantation. not to mention they have some AMAZING restaurants down there.

plus its driving distance so you dont have pay for flights. πŸ™‚

I just really want to say NOT the wisconsin dells…. but I know that my opinion is not totally unbiased. I grew up a half hour from the dells and that’s where we went on every school trip, that’s where we had our summer jobs, and it’s just not magical to me.

Colorado seems so great though. Beautiful mountains and wide open spaces…
