Congrats on your engagement! Just wanted to let you know about a horrible experience I have had (and am still having!) with a designer dress imitation website called bridaldreamdress.com. My girlfriends tried on Amsale dresses that were beautiful but quite expensive and that needed significant alteration (added sleeves, etc). I found bridaldreamdress.com and liked the idea that we could order a similar dress for a fraction of the price. I contacted Chris, head of customer service, who was friendly and said he could make the dresses to my friends’ exact measurements and could add sleeves for free.
WELL, as my dad always says – free is too expensive. What a disaster! The dresses came and my bridesmaids all called me crying. Despite having given our exact measurements, the dresses didn’t even come close to zipping! In addition, the arm holes were too small, cutting into even my tiniest friend in the back of her underarm. The bust also had this weird padding that was not part of the original Amsale dress…and was inches above the girls’ actual busts.
So, about a month before my wedding, I have to start the bridesmaid dress search from square one, and in the meantime, try to get my money back. Chris, who was so helpful before, keeps giving me the runaround. First he told me that he would refund 100% if I sent him pictures of the girls in the dresses to prove that we sent the right measurements and that they don’t fit. Still, after sending him the exact pictures he requested, he is trying to give me a credit towards ordering replacement dresses or altering the ones we have, instead of the refund he promised. To ask us to spend more time or resources on this a month before the wedding is ridiculous, but I’m holding out hope that he’ll honor his agreement to give us a refund.
In the meantime, I just wanted to share my experiences with you so that you won’t have a similar one! The reviews on the website are positive, but don’t be fooled…they’re probably fakes. Best of luck to you in your search for a beautiful and well-priced dress. After this experience, I have to say that sometimes it’s better to spend a little more in order to make sure you know what you’re getting. Happy wedding planning!
