- Wedding: August 2013
Fiance and I are trying to decide where to stay on our wedding night. We originally wanted to stay in the same hotel as some of our guests, but most of them are leaving town after our wedding and staying partway down the road on their way back home. I found a B&B close by, which I thought would be fun, but we are concerned that we won’t get to “properly” enjoy it since we will be getting there late. We’ll see the room (and consummate the marriage), have breakfast that morning with the owner and other guests, and leave.
Is it worth it for us to stay at a B&B for the wedding night or should we just get a regular room?
Our wedding is @1:30pm, reception 3:30-7:30pm. We would like to hang at the restaurant/bar upstairs from our reception after the formal festivities to catch up with some of our out-of-town friends. The restaurant closes at 10pm.
Say we stay there until 10pm, head to the B&B (15 min away), and leave the next morning around 11am. Is it worth it time-wise? It is worth it money wise? We have the choice of a room in the main house for $120 or in the separate blacksmith house for $140. Regular, nice hotel is about $100. The lady owning the B&B said she would give us the key so we wouldn’t have to worry about keeping her up.
Your thoughts, experiences? I like the romantic idea of being in a B&B for our first night together rather than a chain hotel, but we are leaving for a week long honeymoon and will be staying at a B&B during the second half of the trip. However, the owner is going to be selling the blacksmith house (it is on an adjacent property) so if we wanted to do this specific B&B experience, this is our chance.
