I got up and am pregnant! I don’t believe it’s true because I believe your cervix closes up/narrows again after sex so everything that needs to be in there will be. I suppose it might help get the sperm started on its journey but as it can take 3 days for the sperm to get up, I don’t think laying down for 10 mins would make much of a difference.

I don’t think it hurts, but my RE said that’s just a stupid myth, and not to bother.

Well if you get up and immediately go to the bathroom and it all…runs out, I assume that might not be as effective. I don’t think a few minutes in bed after could hurt.

I had also heard this strategy, so Darling Husband and I started DTD right before bed so I could stay horizontal and just fall asleep.  Well…got a UTI!!

If you’re going to stay laying down, just make sure you clean yourself up before bed.  Don’t make my mistake!  I’m in my TWW, so don’t know if the strategy helped at all but will definitely not be doing that again next month.

Its just a stupid myth but make sur to stand up to urinate to reduce the risk of a uti.

I stressed out about this because some people were saying you had to put your feet up in the air for 15 minutes and all this stuff that I wasn’t doing. I got pregnant and I just tried to be still for like 3-4 minutes. Honestly – if you don’t need to rest for a few minutes – whatever you were doing wasn’t worth it anyway! lol! Definitely don’t do what penguin0620 did. Poor thing!

I stayed laying down for about 10 minutes each time before using the bathroom and am 22 weeks pregnant. But I have heard of plenty of women who have not done that and gotten pregnant too!

I jumped up to pee/clean-up pretty much right away and got knocked-up.  I did try to ‘clench’ a bit to keep it from dribbling down my leg, maybe that pushed it up further, don’t know.

I always go to the bathroom immediately after. Currently pregnant. I don’t think it makes a difference.

I think its a myth. But any sperm thats not in your cervix by about 15 minutes will die anyway, so if it makes you feel better to lie down, thats fine, but no need to go longer than that.

weightwatchers152: I don’t think it hurts, but I don’t think it’s a, ‘It will fail otherwise’. I do it. I read oral sex and a shower’s a no no.

I figured it couldn’t hurt to try and I wasn’t in a rush or anything after, so yes, I laid down with my hips slightly elevated for about 10 min after and I am pregnant now. Good luck!
