I don’t know if it is true but I did it and I am now pregnant. I also had my hips slightly elevated for at least 5-10 mins. This is Too Much Information but if you get up right away, some may drip out, so that is another reason I  laid there for awhile.

weightwatchers152:  I didn’t do this. I actually got up, went to the bathroom and showered every time as we just seemed to have plans afterwards everytime that month, and Bam… 16 weeks now!

I was curious about this too.  I am scared of getting a uti so I always go pee directly after.

Hope some others post on this.

Former IVF scientist here – we get taught that there’s no point in lying down after sex. By the time you’ve caught your breath after doing the deed most of the sperm will already be well on their way to infinity and beyond (aka the fallopian tubes).  I wouldn’t lay there long after he’s done, I’d get up and pee to decrease the risk of UTI. Yes there will be a little bit of dribble when you stand up but the bulk of it will be coagulated and retained internally at that point.

When we do artificial inseminations the ladies are advised that lying there will not increase the chance of pregnancy.

Its not a myth, you can get pregnant by not obviously. But it can help, when sperm reaches your cervix it has to use your cervical mucus to get up in there. If your laying down with your hips elevated you will get more sperm in the right area to do that.
