Ive got a quick question about STDs and wedding invitations. I’m having a destination wedding in the middle of 2016 and we’ve already settled on date, location, etc. We initially planned to forgo the STDs and just mail the invitations once we knew our wedding details to 1. give our guests as much lead time as possible to plan travel for our wedding and 2. Save money on postage instead of sending the STDs and invitations separately.
Well, Ive just come across a STD magnet sale that I couldnt pass up! I thought it would be a cool idea to have magnets accompany my invitations (since I’m sending them far in advance of my destination wedding) as kind of a reminder since people usually lose/misplace paper invitations.
I guess my question to you all is that do you think it would be really strange or tacky to receive a Destination Wedding wedding invite that also included a STD magnet?
What are your thoughts?!?
thanks for your help!!

If you really want to send STD magnets do it separately. I would find it really odd to get an invite and a STD at the same time. It defeats the purpose of said STD.

I am doing magnets, so I obviously do not think they’re tacky! I am not sending both (cut costs) but I think it would be fine to get a save the date and then a small magnet with the date on to remind 🙂

Love the magnets idea, but whats the point in sending a Save the date (Sorry I just can’t call it STD) if you are sending it WITH the invitation.

I would disagree that you should send the invites super early. A save the date will let them know the location and date and they can look into costs. Especially if you have a website set up with more details. Unless you want people to RSVP really early?

I am also having a destination wedding and had magnet STDs that I literally just sent out last week. Our wedding isn’t until January 2017, but I decided to send out STDs incredibly early to give everyone a heads up since many of them are recent grads (like myself) that are in the middle of paying off loans and getting started with their careers. But yes, I would find it slightly odd to have a STD in with my invite, but that’s coming from someone who sent out STDs 15 months in advance 😉

I sent magnet STDs a year in advance and sent the invites about 3 months ahead of time. I would think it was strange to get both together. If you haven’t already purchased, maybe look at an invite magnet To get the same effect.
