I ordered my Save-The-Date Cards before finalizing my venue. There was a change in location, going from a laid-back fun place for the reception to a slightly more formal place. I based the colors and design of my STD on my first venue, but now that I decided on the other venue instead, the colors and design won’t really go with what my invitations will look like.
Do people really pay attention to stuff like that? I haven’t sent my Save-The-Date Cards out cause of this. I already spent a lot of money on them from Weddingpaperdivas :(. I probably should just go ahead and use them, I know people don’t care about details, but I do lol.
ETA: Here is my STD (ceremony is at Mandalay Bay):
and here is the reception venue (Maggiano’s), thinking of using darker colors like fuschia and chocolate instead:

Ours don’t match at all, but they’re still awesome. We made coasters…with a picture of the venue on one side and the info on the other. Then our invitations are totally different.
I don’t think it matters. But then…I don’t care about such things!

Can you post a picture?
My Save The Dates were definitely more casual than my venue/vibe. We did a vintage NY postcard, and I really like the way they turned out. Our invites on the other hand, were from Paperterie and were quite formal. My wedding was at a country club.

Nope, people do not pay attention to that. Not one of your guests will. Not one. You’re still pretty early for sending Save-The-Date Cards, but don’t let the change in theme make you scrap what you already have.

I think the STD’s work great at getting their attention, being happy and “spring” themed since the wedding is in April. I would keep them and just make the actually invitations more venue appropraite when the time comes.
Also the venue can be decorated with those colors, have you decided on colors for table clothes, flowers, bridal party, etc. You may be on track then you realize.

I’d hate if mine didn’t match but could care less about if someone else’s matched or not. I just like the invitation to reflect the overall wedding feel, so I know what to expect (e.g., is it formal or laid back?) mostly so I can figure out what to wear!
