Eh, I don’t know why the Save-The-Date Cards are so much harder (for me) than the invitations. I’m having such a hard time tying it into our overall theme, while putting in all the necessary information, and while utilizing our engagement photos.
Anyways, I thought it would be somewhat therapeutic to post all of my drafts so far.
Draft #1. I was originally set on ordering STD magnets. After searching magnetstreet.com and various other sites, I stumbled across a fellow bee’s advice to sign up for VistaPrint. Here, I learned about their awesome deals. I went ahead and spur-of-the-moment ordered 25 free magnets (+ $3.00 shipping) in this design…I ordered them back in December and still haven’t received them. I contacted VistaPrint’s customer service department, and they were extremely helpful and nice, and they are sending me another order. Problem is…in my downtime of waiting for these, I kept researching other possiblities and fell out of love with these.
Draft #2 isn’t even worth posting it’s so bad.
Draft #3 was, instead of using magnets, using VistaPrints 100 free postcards for the remaining Save-The-Date Cards I would need to send. After my ordeal with the magnets, I never ended up ordering the postcards (thank goodness) and stopped liking that design.
Draft #4. I did a mock up of this one just for fun, because I finally got my printer to work again. Don’t get me wrong, I generally like it…but it didn’t really fit the “theme” of our wedding…and I felt lost with damask. LOL. A die-hard perfectionist, I tossed it aside.
Draft #5. I found out about the oh-so-awesomeness of Michaels and decided I just HAD to have this set. I started mapping out all of my stationery based on this picture and thought I finally had everything figured out. Well, I decided to see the product in person, and I was…well…disappointed. The quality just wasn’t what I was expecting. Eh.
Draft #6. Deleted it because it was so bad.
Draft #7. I tried my hand at the WeddingChicks calendar template. Not quite my style. Scratch that draft.
Draft #8. I remembered how I’ve been collecting various forms of this TIME magazine photo since the 6th grade and wanted to try and tie it in somehow.
Draft #9. A lover of pictures (especially collages), I through this together on the MosaicMaker. I was thinking of mounting it to cardstock (to all measure 6×6) and then create a smaller card (6×3) that would say the normal “save the date” info. I think I’ll end up using this collage for other stuff throughout the wedding, but I’m just not in love with it for the Save-The-Date Cards.
Draft #10…now I’m starting to get frustrated and think “are these really worth all my time, energy, and money?” I’m hoping to go all out on the invites, so this is my latest draft.
Soo, that’s where I’m at now. Who knows, by tomorrow I could very well have changed my mind YET AGAIN! In the meantime, thanks for listening, and I’m out the door for more therapeutic-type endeavors (aka yoga).
