This might sound like a dumb question, but I really don’t know the answer.
My reception is going to be in a suburb of Chicago, about 30 minutes away from the city. Our out of town guests will have to fly to Chicago. On the Save the Date I am putting the location on there as well. Should I list it as Chicago, IL or as the suburb it the ceremony and reception is taking place in??

On our Save-The-Date Cards, we only put the city. The location went on the website (the url was on the STD) and on the invitation.
Most of our guests had to travel, as well.

You’d want to put the venue or the suburb the venue is in. Otherwise, ppl will eventually starr making travel and accommodations plans assuming it’s in chi-town. So some ppl might think they can stay w friends when they’d actually need to get a hotel. Or some ppl might not give enough time to get to venue or include cost of that extra transpo in their planning.

I would just put
Because A) who really buys tickets with a STD, B) it looks cool, and C) it drums up some questions/anticipation for the actual invites.
I would send out the invites at least 3 months in advance if you are asking people to travel far.

i’m with @Shkragoldfish this is how people determine if they can come and if they will need to make special arrangements.
