I yet again need your advice. How does the save the date wording differ from invitation wording? How do I specify who is coming? For example, a family with 2 college aged children and 1 child in high school and 1 in elementary. So not all the children are having guests. Just the 3 children obviously. Since there are no inner envelopes I’m having trouble. Help!

Mr. and Mrs. John Doe
Peter, Paul, Mary, Joe, and guests
The Doe Family and guests
Or leave off the guests entirely?
Hmmm thanks for your help!

Oh, huh. Okay, I think I misunderstood. So, the 3 older children are getting guests and the 1 little kid isn’t, right? That’s complex! Well, I read somewhere that kids that are 18+ should get their own invitation so maybe it would be easier to send the 3 older kids their own invite?
Or, I might just go with ‘Mr. and Mrs. John Doe and Family’ then call to explain.

I don’t think it’s necessary to list everyone on the Save-The-Date Cards, just the formal invitation. I would recommend sending the STD to the “Smith Family” and worry about the specific names/guests/dates later on the formal invitations. you also don’t need to specify guests on the Save-The-Date Cards. Hope this helps!
