I feel like these two trends kind of popped up around the same time, since they go hand in hand.
For those of you that chose to forgo the Save the Dates, did you take engagement photos still? What did you use them for?
For those of you that did use your photos on your Save-The-Date Cards, what else did you use your engagement photos on?

We’re doing engagement pictures. I actually didn’t want to, but the photographer wanted to do them to get used to shooting us, and it was free, so we went for it. In addition to probably using them for Save-The-Date Cards (another thing I didnt want to do, but got convinced to do), our photographer can make a book of the shots that can be used as a guest book for the wedding.

- Wedding: January 2013 - Harbourfront Grand Hall
We did engagement pictures, they’re all around our house and on our wedding website. 😉

We did both. Our engagement photos were on our Save-The-Date Cards, but we also wanted the excuse to have nice professional photos of us! They’re around our house, we made photo books for our parents, sent some to grandparents, etc.

We got engagement photos, however we took our own STD photo.
I guess we’ll have them as a keepsake for how we looked back then. I may use e-photos or wedding hpotos for making a holiday card. I may print/frame some for the parents. I’d love to just make a photo book and have it in the living room. I like to look at photos.

hahaha when i clicked on this I didn’t realize that STD also referred to save the dates and I thought what the hell?? STD’s and engagement photos? lol
anyways, I am getting mine done in 2 weeks and as of right now I’m planning to use them for STD’s (lol) but I’m also planning to use all the photos and turn it into a coffee table type of book, leather bound (from shutterfly.com) and it will be our guest book – people can sign anywhere within the book. That way i can flip through and look at all the beautiful photos anytime i want and they don’t just sit on my computer unappreciated.
I might also use them to create my own 2013/2014 calenday – also on shutterfly.com.
Plus engagment photos are just a lovely keepsake for you and your fiance, also to share with future children. Definitely do it – even if you don’t use them for STD’s!

- Wedding: August 2013 - Rocky Mountains USA
We’re doing postcard save the dates. For the pictures (our engagement pics, kinda) we had a friend with a really nice camera take a bunch of photos of the two of us while we were all backpacking in a drop dead gorgeous mountain range. I’m going to photoshop a bunch of the pictures (mostly goofy poses) together into one shot with the beautiful mountain background. Dirty and sweaty with no makeup – may not be everyone’s bag but I think it’ll be awesome!

We did Save-The-Date Cards but not with pics and we still did e-pics and they’re all around our house, used for engagement announcement in newspaper, made gifts for fam, put one on this years xmas card, put them on our shower thank you cards and i made a photobook with them. We don’t have tons of pics together so I wanted some fun photos of us!

We already sent out STD’s but we’re thinking of getting e-pics at this end of this month. We’re having a Dia de los Muertos wedding and want to get on site location pictures at the Seattle Center (Space Needle + Dia de los Muertos festival).
We have no plans for them other than to share with family and to put out. We are not huge picture people and on the rare occassion we remember a camera we end up doing the long arm out to tak our own pic. So having some cool ones with a Dia theme is going to be super fun!

we hadn’t planned on having engagement photos done, but since it was part of our photography package, we went for it. we used our photos on our shower thank you cards and also in our guestbook. i love having pictures every where, so we’re going to frame a few to put in our home too.
