I’m not a Marchie- I’m a May-ie. But I am planning on STD’s and will probably be sending them out around October/November.

Yes we are.

We’re planning on doing an email STD this month and then an actual STD 6-7 months before (August/September).

We’re taking engagement pictures at the end of this month, and if all goes according to plan, we’ll have STD’s out by the middle of June!

Yes, we’ll be doing them. We’re taking our pictures in a month and hope to send them out by the end of June. The annoucements are doubling as engagement announcements and save-the-dates.

We’re aiming to get them out in June/July, as long as I get my e-pics done by then!

I sent them out as soon as I reserved the venue, I wanted to be sure that my out of town guest had time to figure out travel. I did only send them to the out of town guests, wedding party and close fam.

@HeMadeMeWantTo:  We’re looking for something like “They’re engaged! {our names}” and then our save-the-date info (something before the save-the-date info that announces the engagement…I’m not creative this time of morning! lol!). Only our parents are in the state with us, so we had to tell a lot of people over the phone, e-mail, or word of mouth from other relatives, so we wanted to do a formal announcement, too.

I think as long as STD’s are sent out six months before the wedding, it’s OK. Like I said, we have so many out-of-state people being invited, so I wanted to give them enough time to plan and budget out their trip. If August works best for you, then I think it’s fine. June is just a goal month for us. If we don’t make it, we won’t cry.

One friend sent out her STD’s two years in advance! It felt like that maget was on my ‘fridge forever!

I am planning and doing a photo STD where they can cut out the photo and put it in a frame rather than a magnet.

It may be because we are having a smallish and cheap wedding, but we aren’t doing STD’s. There are a few of his family that needed to know ahead of time, but we told them in person. We just plan to send out the invitations a little earlier than we would have had we sent out STD’s. Just a little way to save on money, and it won’t make much of a diference for our families and our friends already know.

@HeMadeMeWantTo:  We’re doing June/July because about 75% of our guests are Out of Town (wedding in DC, our families are mostly in FL and MA).

Our engagement pics are going to be in July so I was hoping to have them out late August/Early September. Anyone have any pics of what they are doing? I’m still trying to find the right one without the cost being outrageous!

We are sending Save-The-Date Cards. We’re not waiting for our engagement photos, though. Those will be taken in mid-June. We’re sending the Save-The-Date Cards this week – eeeek!

I’m from GA and my entire family still lives there. I live in NC and the wedding will be in NC, so to give over 70 of the wedding guests enough time to plan to travel, etc., we’re sending them out a bit earlier than is typical.

I had them custom designed from http://www.paperwhitespress.com on cream paper and I added a magnet to the back (from Michael’s). I wrapped them in a doily and tied them with tan/pink twine before stuffing them in the cream envelope. 🙂

We ordered 100 and they were less than $200 for the printing (+ envelopes) and the magnets I bought. If you add in the paper doilies and the twine, I bet it bumps over $200, but I didn’t think it was outrageous. I live somewhat locally, so I didn’t have to pay for shipping — not sure if that’s something they charge.

Here’s a pic of ours (edited to remove names & such):
