For our Save-The-Date Cards, we’re caught between including the city of our ceremony and reception OR listing the actual venue (our ceremony and reception are at the same place, just different buildings).
What did you guys end up doing? Which would you prefer as a guest?

I would do city, because Out of Town guests might not know where the wedding will be if you just list the venue.

- Wedding: July 2012 - Baltimore Museum of Industry
@mightywombat: ditto, unless it’s very obvious.
And even then…we are getting married at The *Baltimore* Museum of Industry, and some family who knew we were considering my hometown, thought the ceremony was going to be there instead.

I listed just the city… on the plus side- it’s keeping invited guests wondering where the event is actually going to be held… they have to go to the website if they want to know before the invites go out!!

We just did the city. The whole point of the Save-The-Date Cards is to let people know not to make plans for that day, and for people out of town, they’ll want to be able to book flights ahead of time (and knowing the city is helpful for this).

Just put the city. It tells people where to book their flights and get their hotel rooms. The invitations will give the rest of the details!

I say city. You never know what will change! We changed our venue after Save-The-Date Cards went out!

Thanks, everyone! I’ve seen it done both ways, but I was leaning towards city. There’s no point in an invitation if you’re putting on the info on the STD!
