I’m doing our Save-The-Date Cards on VistaPrint. We have two bulldogs that we think the world of. I got this idea from another Bee that posted awhile ago (I think she was somewhat joking), although I’m thinking these would be really cute.
Not sure how well the uploads will do – the front says “Did you hear the news?! There’s going to be a wedding!” and the other dog asks, “What’s a wedding?” and the other one replies, “I don’t know, but you better SAVE THE DATE!” The back side has all of our information.
Our wedding is more formal but I like this idea a lot. Fiance isn’t so convinced. We haven’t taken our engagement pictures yet and won’t until spring (it’s cold here in Iowa and we want outdoor photos). By the time we get around to having E-pics done, these will need to have been sent out.

Well… I’m not sure sure, to be honest. I don’t mind you using your dogs, but I’m not sure I love how the comic came out?? Maybe you need to change the font inside the comic? Or go all out and make the whole thing look really cartoony? Or maybe you could take new pictures with them and signs that say “Save the Date” or something like that?
I don’t love it, but that really doesn’t matter. If you love it, and can convince your Fiance… then more power to you.

I think its cute 🙂 Besides, the STD’s can generally be whatever, its the invites that set the tone 🙂

Lol I think it’s adorable. Do it. I would love if I got a save the date in the mail like that.

Save the Dates don’t have to be too formal. I wanted something really simple and fun and laid-back. My wedding is in Savannah so when I was down there in July I bought a bunch of postcards with pictures of Savannah and hand wrote the Save the Date message. I got a lot of good responses!
Yours are adorable and if they express who you are, do it!

They are super cute! But i can see why you’d be nervous about being informal. What if instead of the pictures you had a cute sketch done? That’d be a little more formal (IMO). I’m sure you can figure out a way to dress it up a bit. But they are adorable!!

I think it’s a cute idea! And an STD can be however you want it to be, it doesn’t have to be formal.
If you’re looking to compromise maybe you could just do the picture of the one dog with its head tilted and something like “Guess who’s getting married?”
I love the one you have right now, though. Too cute!

So cute! I also think Save-The-Date Cards should err on the side of fun rather than formality–they’re there as a friendly reminder; they’re not supposed to “cue” the guests on what to wear as the style of the actual invite does.
