I’m not your target audience, because I have the opposite problem! I like curves and am not particularly an angular fan, but the bee has awakened a lust for step cuts like nothing else. I’m drooling over emeralds and princess cuts now!

sometimes i wish my ring had more sparkle. but in the right light, i just love my emerald cut. I was always drawn to that cut, and I love that it’s different from the more popular round or princess cuts.

forgotusername:  It’s funny you bring this up as I am in the same boat.

I have always loved step cuts.  My grandmother had a beautiful emerald cut ring and I always thought that’s what I would want.  When I was engaged for a short time to my ex, I had an asscher cut in a micro pave halo.  I really did love that ring.

My boyfriend and I were at Costco last night and to my surprise, he asked the lady there to open up the jewelry case so I could try on some of the rings (!)  They had an emerald solitaire and it was just meh. (I’m not a huge solitaire fan anyway so that could be part of my feelings). I then tried on an oval cut in a halo and I was in love!  My boyfriend is not a big step cut fan because he doesn’t think they’re sparkly enough and usually doesn’t care for halos but he did like this oval ring.

I really think I will wind up making the jump.  I can’t get the sparkle out of my mind.

I do sometimes wonder what it would’ve been like to have a princess cut for the super sparkle! But then I look at my emerald cut and I just love how classic it is. Plus you don’t really see many people wearing step cuts in the UK, so it’s nice to have something different.

Asscher e-ring owner and step cut lover but I understand. I love staring into the “hall of mirrors” but sometimes you want something different….that’s what RHR’s are for! 🙂 I would never change my e-ring but for my RHRs, I tend to go for completely different styles than my e-ring. My current obsession are OEC’S.

I love rounds and emerald cuts…I wish Amora gem made emerald cuts and I would probably snap it up !!! I had an Asscher Amora gem which I sold and it was really beautiful…when it came time for the diamond investment though the round cut was a no brainer for some reason.

amandajane4949:  Thank you! 🙂
The engagement was custom-made by a boutique jeweler back in Melbourne, Australia. The wedding band was custom-made by a jeweler in New York’s diamond district.
