I don’t think it’s grace. it’s the fact that the back of dress doesn’t move as much as the front when you turn!

@babbot:  oh this totally happens and is NATURAL in wedding dresses… its the train that makes the hem sort of drag around you and that is the purpose of it. I would sort of adopt a “kick” like step…

eHow says this which I think explains what I mean:
“Kick your dress out of your way. You can do this by kicking your feet or using your knees to move the hem of your skirt out of your way. When you take a step, move your foot in toward your other ankle first, then forward and out, like a dance step. This sweeps your hem out from underfoot. To use your knees, walk so that when you take a step, your knee juts forward, like a horse’s prancing step. This will push your skirt out of the way of your feet.”

Here’s the link: http://www.ehow.com/how_12192236_keep-tripping-over-back-long-dress.html

I just kicked my hem or readjusted it by grabbing at the knees whenever I thought I was going to step on it… just try to be a little more aware.

I second the kick idea. I did that a lot when walking in dresses when I was trying them on!
