What dress did you get?  Is there something specific about it that you don’t like?

Don’t feel bad, I settled on a dress that wasn’t the exact one that I wanted. They had a dress on sale for half of what my dress was and I LOVED it, but the only problem was that it would’ve needed EXTENSIVE alterations. I ended up getting my dress because it came in a petite length. Well boy did I make a mistake. I went to my first fitting about 2 weeks ago, and I was very unhappy that I ended up having to pay almost $400 in alterations!!!!!!! I go for my next fitting on Wednesday, and I’m totally freaking out!! My poor mother has paid so much for this dress, and God only knows what will happen at this fitting!!! And, for the bees, is it normal that when you have your wedding dress on, and it’s strapless, that you have to stand with your shoulders back the entire time for it not to be in your arm pitts and giving you arm rolls when you’re only a size 1??? Good Luck Nlmiele!!!! I say talk to your mother about it, and if it upsets her, then don’t do it. Do you have pictures of the two dresses? That might make a better way for the bees to help you.

Wow your dress is gorgeous and VERY traditional! If that’s what you were going for you nailed it!!! If you got emotional, then apparently you love this dress. I say you stop looking, and keep the one you have. The more you look, the more you want. You stopped when you met your Fiance, so you have to stop with dress shopping. I see dresses online all the time that I LOVE, but I already have one and can’t change that. Just tell yourself that you have a dress, and focus on other things. As long as you don’t hate your dress, as you obviously don’t, there is no reason to change it.

FWIW, your dress looks very similar to a lot of Maggie’s I’ve seen.  I’m going to go against the grain, though, and say that if you have the $$, get another one (FAST!) so this doesn’t nag you for the rest of your engagement.  Good luck!

If it’s nagging at you why don’t you just go and try on a couple Maggie’s? You may be surprised to see you don’t like them in person as much as you did in the pics. They may look great in the photos or even other girls but they may not be as “right” on you as your original choice. Several dresses I drooled over in photos became a “meh” for me once I tried them on.

Your gown is beautiful and reminds me of an Allure gown that I loved and wanted to purchase.  I had a bit of dress drama before (and after) I purchased my Maggie.  I kept looking at Maggie gowns and thought they were all so much prettier than mine!  I was sure I had made a rushed decision and should have waited.  That was until I went back to the bridal shop and tried my gown on again…then I knew I made the right decision.

I’d say go back and try on your gown.  If you don’t feel reassured and happy with your decision, then you might want to look for a new one.  I’m sure your mom will understand…maybe?  She was once a young, crazy bride too right? :):)

Either way, don’t forget that you’re going to look beautiful on your wedding day no matter which dress you’re in!  Good luck!

If this helps, I wanted lace and don’t have any on my dress, so I’m going to get a lace cathedral veil 🙂
