Ugh so here I am thinking about whether I made the “right” decision on the dress. I put down a 50% deposit on a dress. I do love it, but the color makes me rethink how bridal I might feel on my wedding day. I like the idea of not having a bright white dress, but part of me feels that I shouldn’t give up the look of an all-ivory dress on my wedding day. The two dresses I debate on, of course, both have some color. The one I put a deposit on is a “french beige”, and the other I keep thinking about, one of the first I tried on by myself, is blush. You can really only see the blush part on the bottom and not as much. I feel like it’s just a lighter dress overall, and that maybe the one I put a deposit on has too much going on. I was even thinking about changing the neckline of mine into more of a sweetheart, which totally negates what the designer was doing by putting sheer material there. Ugh, I’m so frustrated with myself for even thinking about cancelling my initial order and going with the second dress. And if I do, can I just cancel the dress and cut my losses, or do I still have to pay the other 50% of the dress? Here’s the one I put the deposit down on, everyone I’ve shown really does like it, and I do love the way it shimmers all on the bottom:
And here’s the one I tried on months ago, that I still look at on my phone, and think to myself if I just should have stuck with wanting this one. I don’t know if I would get the blush, but it seems so subtle that you can barely tell, when in the one I put a deposit on you can definitely tell it’s a darker color and I’m afraid it will appear “dirty” in pictures. I just feel like it’s more of a simple option, and while I would miss the shimmer on the bottom from the other dress, I can’t help thinking this one might be more “me”.
Thoughts, opinions, help? 🙁 Or god forbid I continue looking… why would I do that to myself hahaha

both are lovely colours and are subtle so you wont feel non-bridal on your big day. saying that, i dont really like the first dress, the second dress (blush) looks absolutely fab on you…

Personally I love the one you picked. There’s nothing “not bridal” about that dress, the color is magnificent! I may be biased though because my dress is even darker than yours (dark champagne and ivory), but I think the color just has such a beautiful, soft appearance to me. White white is much too strong, imo, even solid ivory can come across as too stark.
i really think you made the right choice, that dress looks amazing on you, however at the end of the day you should wear what makes you most comfortable.

Have you looked into their policy? If it was just off the rack, the dress is unworn and can just as easily be resold I don’t see why they would keep your entire desposit / force you to pay the rest.

You don’t feel bridal because your dress is white. You feel bridal because it’s your wedding day.

I choose the second dress, not because of the first one’s color (color is very pretty) but because I think it compliments your body better and looks great on you.

Both are beautiful but I think the second one has the edge – makes your waist look teeny and I love the proportions

I do like the second dress better, but both are beautiful dresses, so I doubt it would be worth it to lose the 50% deposit that you put down on the first dress pictured.

I love the dress you picked!! I think it’s stunning on you and I love the colour. I don’t think it looks dirty at all.

It’s not the color that I’m not liking on the first dress, it’s the style. That blunt line chops your body in half. The second dress has a nicer flow & is much more flattering. I would find out what the bridal shop will allow you to do and figure out what you truly want in your wedding gown.

I will admit I’m not the thinnest gal, so I’m sure the line on the first one is because the sample is too tight. I was hoping that once my actual dress came in that it would fit similarly to the silhouette as the second. A store in my area is having a trunk show soon so I might try on the second one again to see how I feel. I may have felt more pressured to get the first one because it was just me and my mom and she actually said “wow” and she doesn’t emote like that with barely anything, so I took it as a sign like ok this one is probably the one. Then I just keep overanalyzing my decision, did I pick it just because she liked it so much? I’ll have to look into their cancellation policy, but most likely I’ll lose the deposit. Even if they didn’t start making the dress and I could use the money towards something else, the store I purchased the first one at doesn’t carry the designer of the second one. (Fail.)
Thank you all for your great compliments. I think I’m just thinking about it too much. I also think too much about the fact that people I have shown are like oh you can’t wear a necklace because of the top of that dress, and for some silly reason that bothers me. I usually hate asymmetry on myself too so I don’t know what I was thinking with the top.

The lighting in the two stores are very different and will affect the way the colours look in the photos. On your wedding day you will likely have brighter light (even natural light if you get photos done outside) which will REALLY brighten up your dress. I bought ivory and thought for so long I should have gotten white. In the bridal store it looked stained and I was really upset (the sample i originally tried on was white). Once I got it home and saw it in natural light it looked completely different. In my wedding photos you just see a beautiful bride in a “white” dress. I could hardly tell it wasn’t white on my wedding day.
I say stick with your original choice 🙂

MissKayDee: I looked at your beautiful recap and it makes me just want the second dress more just in ivory (not even the blush). Fail fail fail lol

Nothing to do with color, but I like the second one better overall.
