I’m so sorry to hear that you didn’t get the pictures you wanted.  Very unprofessional (even if he is a student) on your friend’s part.  Friend or not, you and your husband were clients.

I’m sorry this happened also… seems like your expectations were a little out of line, though. You expected this student to be able to think of all the important shots brides typically want at a wedding and take the initiative to make sure you got them, when you were probably the first wedding he ever shot. How would he know? A pro would know, yes, but he’s not a pro 🙁 How are the pictures you did receive? Do you at least like them? Hopefully so. Unfortunately tons of missing shots are the MO of any newbie photographer 🙁

It is sad that you didnt get the photos you want but considering his level of experience I think your expectations were a bit high.

It sucks this happened, but really I agree with the other poster that you should not have these expectations from a photog doing his first formal wedding.

The other thing is that you didn’t like his e-shots, yet you thought he’d be so much better at your wedding?

If there were shots you really wanted you def should have paid attention whether you’ve taken them or not.

It seems like you’re putting too much blame on the photog since it seems like you made some very bad decisions.

@xshellx2003: That sucks that you don’t have these important pictures.  Honestly, after the engagement shoots went so badly, I would’ve found a new photographer.  It sounds like you wanted things that he didn’t have the capability to deliver.  Hopefully some of your pictures will still turn out alright.  Hugs!

Expectations weren’t too high in my opinion if he was notified of shots to be taken beforehand. My opinion though.  What is done is done now.  It’s a shame. 🙁

i understand how you feel. i didnt get ALL the shots i wanted with my bridal party and some details and i HAD a pro photog.  but i dont blame her, we were in a time crunch because things started late and it happens. i am slowly getting over it and focusing on what i DO have and appreciating those pictures.  that is all you can do. and of course the memories and the fact that you are married is what is most important.  of course i know this is easier said than done, but it will happen eventually.

@xshellx2003: I dont think your expecations were to high at all..i think people are getting hung up on the word “student”. My photographer wasnt a student, but she was “new” she had done two or maybe three wedding previous to mine, otherwise it was all family photos etc.

She did great, but she missed some shots that make me very very sad as well. I had given her a list of family pictures to take…so those were all done. But i dont have one of me with all my girls or me with just the boys and vice versa for my Darling Husband and his party, there isnt ONE picture of the back of my dress….*sigh*

Unfortunatley the day does go by quickly and these things do happen. It took me a long time to come to that conclusion though. The photographer was WRONG to tell you the shot was missed bc of you being late etc. Really its no ones fault, these things honestly do just happen.

the hardest part for me is knowing that if i had spoken up on the day, i would have gotten everything i wanted. i keep wishing i could change the past and just say out loud “hey, can i get a shot with me and my BMs on the beach!”   but i was stressed and so much was going on that it just didnt cross my mind in the moment when it should have…
