I am 18 weeks pregnant and in the last few weeks I started getting over my feeling of being ill and overall I feel better in general – except for in the mornings. In the morning I wake up with really bad stomach ache. I don’t sleep on my back or my stomach and I try to sleep on my side but I find that when I wake I may be a little on my front or back. I don’t think it’s hunger pains because eating doesnt make me feel better and, I am throwing my breakfast back up sometimes. I do feel better after being sick and then for the rest of the day I am fine.
Obviously I would prefer not to throw up so does anyone have any tips for how I can either prevent this from happening or any stretches I can do in the morning to help my stomach feel better?

Is it possibly heartburn or acid reflux? I’ve had issues in the am because laying down (in any position) made it worse and I know pregnancy can also give you awful heartburn issues…. I don’t know if tums is ok for preggos but maybe ask your dr about something like that or a Prilosec daily pill… Also maybe not enough water? I’ve never been pregnant but ive had tons of stomach issues for years :/

I’ve had stomach pain in the morning during pregnancy as well, and while it usually dissipates after I go pee (a full bladder gets really painful for me this time around), it doesn’t always. In the cases where that doesn’t work, it is most often gas. Best way to get rid of it when you can’t lie on your stomach? Squat all the way down and lean forward and stay in that position. Fart. Feel amazing.
Could also be ligament pain from lying on your back at some point during your sleep. During my first pregnancy, I would frequently wake up on my back, and as soon as I rolled over, my belly would scream. This would pass quickly, though — usually just in a few minutes. So if your pain is lasting a while and even making you throw up, then this probably isn’t it.
Honestly, my money is on gas. Pregnancy messes up your whole digestive system, and makes common ailments feel different somehow, because your organs are shifted around. Try starting your morning with a nice squat-n-lean and see if that helps!

I do have some gaviscon, maybe I’ll try that first.
ha ha! I’ll give that a try but wait until I go downstairs – my poor husband otherwise!
This morning I ate only a little bit of my breakfast at home (I’d made a smoothie) and then the rest I ate once I got to work and felt better. This worked ok.
