The baby is well-protected by your uterus and amniotic fluid, so I wouldn’t worry about it not being safe now. It’s going to get uncomfortable far before you’d need to worry about safety. 🙂

I’m 24 weeks and sleep semi on my stomach/side.  I just started sleeping with a pillow between the bed and my belly and it works for me.  We will see how long it lasts!

I plan to continue sleeping on my stomach until it is no longer comfortable.

Not sure about pregnancy, but sleeping on your stomach is awful for your neck and back.

i slept on my tummy up untill about 27weeks, and then i couldnt any longer as it was so uncomfortable. it really sucks.. i loved sleeping on my tummy. There is lots of things in between you and your baby, if your too worried talk to your dr or midwife. good luck.

I’m 29 weeks pregnant and still sleeping on my stomach/side. I try to start falling asleep on my side with a pillow between my bump and the bed but inevitably I wake up on my stomach. Miraculously this is still a comfortable position for me. That said, anything that even slightly resembles a sit-up makes me feel like my abdomen is being ripped apart by razors. Your body will let you know what’s right for you — don’t worry about it. 🙂

I was told by my doctor when I was pregnant you should not sleep on your stomach past 16 weeks.  I always have slept either on my back or side…

12 weeks I was recommended, then you should sleep on your side. You can get pregnancy pillows to help you get comfy.

@calgarymommy2b:  my doctor said as long as it’s comfortable, the baby is safe and protected and you won’t hurt it sleeping on your stomach! I am 20 weeks and have a sort half stomach half side thing going on now. I slept totally on my stomach until I got too big!
