I think 6×8 mm is a very nice size! I don’t think it will be too big in a green amethyst. My favorite ring (that I bought for myself, as a stone and a separate setting, which I had put together at a jeweler’s) has a stone of that dimension– it’s a green tourmaline. The ring is a size 7. (Sorry the picture is so huge– I couldn’t resize it for some reason!)

@Stormchild:  That is a gorgeous ring! The color and style of it is very delicate, I don’t think it looks at all like costume jewelry. You don’t have anything to worry about!

OP, I think it’ll look gorgeous πŸ™‚ Maybe try something on in that size, and see how you feel about it and if you find it comfortable.

My rings a carat, which I don’t think of as too big, but a few friends have asked me if I find it uncomfortable at all, so I think everyones different πŸ™‚
