Not you bees. People in general!
Every time there’s an earthquake, flooding, or some sort of natural disaster – everyone seems to go into panic mode. People add up dates, years, divided, multiply, just so they can come out with the result of 2012.
The earth was knocked off it’s axis. Japan was moved 8 feet. People don’t realize that this happens with earthquakes. They immediately jump into the 2012 theory and whine, cry, and preach.
I’m seriously really tired of hearing how I will be married for only 2 months before the world ends. I’m sorry, but if no one can predict these natural disasters and other things that do happen, how can you pinpoint the end of the world? Because of a calendar? C’mon…
I’m not trying to start any drama. I’m simply ranting. It’s just seems way too ridiculous to me. Live your life to the fullest because you never know what could happen. The world could end today. In 50 years. Or you and/or someone you love could be taken from this earth in a blink of an eye because it was meant to be.
It’s going to be a long 1+ years.

I think of the whole 2012 thing the same way I thought of Y2K. And we all know how that turned out. So, yeah, um, chill people.

As a society we will always have an ‘end of the world’ theory, it will never go away. It will keep getting pushed back, yes, as we approach the new theorized date, but it will always be there, with evidence to back it up.

I’ve been thinking the world is ending since I was a kid. Not because of a Mayan calendar, but because people are just out of control. Pollution, war, computers and drugs are going to destroy the world.
But yes, I agree with you. It’s like we forget sometimes we live on a LIVING planet that has gone through changes (ice age anyone?) for millions and millions of years, and will continue to.

People just like the idea of a certain “doom” and yes, one day the world will come to an end. Chances are we WON’T be here when it does. So why not just enjoy the life and planet we have now rather that focusing on when we are going to lose it all?

But, Desiree, THE END IS NEAR.

I totally agree – I understand that it’s a horrible event, and my heart reaches out for everyone who is suffering, but I went down for breakfast tonight and my mother was glued to the TV, because if California goes down then apparently that’s it.
I’m a Christian, so I believe that we will never know when the world is going to end, but even if I didn’t, look at all the failed prophesies – you honestly think that you have a way to tell when the world is going to end? If we honestly knew, it would’ve come out waaaaay before this.

There are so many prophesies, that eventually someone will be correct, That doesn’t make them special, just lucky.

I’m so with you on this. I think it’s the silliest thing in the world and people have WAY too much time on their hands to come up with these ridiculous theories.

AGREE!! I’m so over hearing about the end of the world! Suck it up, if it really is the end of the world, enjoy your life now!

Funny story, the Mayan Calendar always “restarts” so after 2012 it would just cycle over and begin again. I don’t know why people get so dramatic about it.

@ceamoste: I am with you there. I agree it was absolutely terrible. It’s so heartbreaking. I wish I could help and I will try to as much as I possibly can. I couldn’t imagine going through this.
@msgiraffe: Exactly. Ugh. Hahah.
@helenberrycrunch: I agree with that as well. The end is always going to be near. As in the world or life in general. We’ll eventually expire. 😛
There’s just too much going on right now. It’s rough. I can understand people’s concerns. But as my grandmother said, there were plenty of times where she thought the world was going to end because of wars. I think that’s what we have to worry about more rather than the world ending because of a prediction due to a calendar. I think some of us are going to pray that the world will end because of possibilities in the future.
I used to get into debates with my ex’s father. They are methodists so they looked for signs, read all the Left Behind series, followed things such as that. They were showing me the “signs” the bible calls for. He used to tell me almost every day that the end was near. I looked right at him and asked why he was spending thousands of dollars to send his children to college if the end was so near. He had no answer for me and backed off.

I’m just waiting to pull pranks on people in 2012 to freak them out I find it very entertaining.
@helenberrycrunch: Lol @ “the END IS NEAR!”
