you didn’t get a period when you took it out, you got a withdrawl bleed. Once your cycle regulates again and you do get your period and get back on track I am sure your horomones will balance out and all this water weight will go away!

shortbridetobe:  I had the same exact issue when I went off the ring. I took a break for a month because I was having a lot of breakthrough bleeding and I felt miserable that entire month. If I was planning on keeping it out for good I would have talked to my doctor about the issue because the weight gain was insane.

I don’t really have any advice other than to ask your doctor about it, just wanted to let you know I had the same issue so you aren’t alone.

I was on the nuvaring for over a year before I stopped (I took it out last June because I was having issues with it). I noticed that it’s been very hard to lose weight since I got off it, but I haven’t noticed any weight gain. How often do you work out and what is your diet like?

I gained 30 pounds in the two weeks after I took out my nuvaring. I had not changed anything else and my doctor said although it’s rare sometimes the nuvaring was providing a certain balance of hormones that helps people..going off it means you aren’t getting that balance, causing some people to rapidly gain weight. Unfortunately there isn’t a way to figure out that balance to adjust it another way. I ended up going back on the nuvaring hoping the weight would fall off the same way it came but no such luck.  I’m not looking forward to going off the nuvaring again when we’re actually ready to start trying!!!

shortbridetobe:  I’m in the same boat I would be excited but I have 3 months lol. It was just a suggestion.. It took me like 49 days after stopping my pill to get another period. I still took a preg test without symptoms just to be sure. IF i was it would have just been for planning things out.. I’d be fine either way but I’m a planner. Need to know things way in advance lol. Some people never have symptoms. I was only suggesting to rule it out cuz of the Weight gain that’s all!

I don’t know if this is like what you’re going through, but I’ve gone on and off nuvaring a few times in the past 6 years and wanted to mention that I typically gain weight when I get off of it because I’m actually -hungry- again instead of lowkey nauseated a lot of the time. All BC makes me some level of nauseous – pills are the worst & NR is the best, but once I’m off of it I get the full brunt of my hunger and I’m not used to regulating it so I tend to gain weight but usually only 5-10 lbs. A high fat low carb primarily vegetarian diet helps me for the first couple months off of NR because I feel full for longer. A food scale may also be worth purchasing, since a lot of factors influence how much we eat when we “free feed” vs. measuring.
