Hi Everyone,
I wanted to see what the norm was for women who stopped birth control pills. I was on the generic for Ortho Tri Cyclen Lo. I was suppose to get my period on April 14th, however due to wedding stress (I think due to wedding stress) (I was married April 26th) I got my pd early on April 8th. I did finish my pills and my last pill was taken on April 11th or 12th. I still havent got my pd… I have been getting lower back pain and moody for the past two weeks however, still no pd. Im waiting and waiting because we would like to start a family. I know I am not pregnant because we took two pregnancy test. I was wondering how long it took you to get your pd after stopping birth control.
Thank you!

I think it varies! I was on and off the BCP for years trying to find one that I could tolerate. Each time my pd was thrown off schedule. I’d say give it a month or so to straighten itself out. I’ve been off of BCP for about a year now and my “natural” pd is about 2 weeks ahead of what it was while on BCP.
ETA: Now that I’m not taking BCP, my pd also gets easily affected by my friend’s cycles. We often sync up if we are around each other a lot, and blame each other for our pds coming early or late! LOL

It depends on how long it takes your cycle to ” return to normal” when I stopped ( It was makeing me nuts!) there was A strech of 56 days where AF was on vacation. it’s been 4 months and I’m finally back on a “normal” cycle

For some people, it just takes a while to get back on track. I’ve seen others with 40-50 day cycles after coming of BCP and it just depends on when your hormones regulate. I’m sorry that you have to wait!

AF was right on time the first cycle after the pill but consistently got longer until I hit 32 days which ended up being my average.

It may be too soon for a pregnancy test if you’re pregnant. I was on ortho generic and got off of them first week in May 2012. Still haven’t had a period cuz I got pregnant right away! So maybe test again in a week. At one month after my last pill, I tested negative. A week later, BFP.

I’m in the same boat as @sit1010. I was also extremely nauseous for the first month and am still breaking out like a teenager six months later.

Commenting to follow as I am in the same boat as you!! I am currently on cycle day 40. I have no idea when AF is coming…I have been experiencing all the normal PMS symptoms, back pain, cramps and crankiness for over 2 weeks! It is so frustrating not knowing what is going on with your body….someone suggested Parsely tea to me?! I might try it…
I just hope we both get AF soon so we can get on with TTC!! goodluck to you keep me posted!

I came off the BCP earlier this year and got AF 28 days later. I thought I was lucky and might not take time to get back to normal, but the next cycle was 75 days! I’m trying to be patient, but it’s not easy!

I’m actually in the exact, exact same boat! this was my first month off ortho tri cyclen lo–my last period started on April 9th and so here I am at CD 36, with no period in sight and 5 negative hpts…It’s driving me crazy! I’m feeling pretty pessimistic with all these bfns, and thinking that this is just a long, wacky cycle due to coming off the pill after being on it 6 years…but I guess there’s still hope? I had some crazy symptoms like 2 weeks ago, but they seem to have tapered off…

@finnaroo: This is where I am confused. You only get your period if you ovulate.. So it is possible you & I didnt ovulate yet… right?? and if that is the case cant we still get pregnant? or possibly get a positive in a week? (I guess its wishful thinking lol) I used OPK when I stopped and got what looked like a positive for ovulation around April 18th.. but now im thinking that cant be correct. Now I wish I stopped the pill sooner
