I’m having such a hard time finding a gown that I am 100% in love with. The problem is that I’m super picky. I found an Elie Saab replica at http://www.storeofdress.com and I am seriously considering taking the leap of faith and ordering it. Has anyone bought from this store? I know this is an overseas factory, but 99% of all gowns are made in Chinese factories.

If you buy from one of the zillion “fancy” designers who, like you said, do get dresses made in Chinese factories (say, Pricilla of Boston) you at least know for sure you are getting the exact pattern, and the material you’ve seen in the store. If you go with a replica, you get a guess/approximation of the cut, and usually totally different fabric, as well as cheaper finishings (not covered buttons but a plastic zip, etc). There are lots of other threads addressing this on WeddingBee, I think, including reviews… I considered a knock-off dress, too, but read too many disappointed reviews, and decided it wasn’t worth the chance.
If you do choose to go the knock-off route, I think you are much safer buying a dress without lace or lots of bling. For instance, i think a simple chiffon dress has a much better chance of looking great.
