Has this happened to any other bees?
The day I ordered my dress (Lazaro 3101) I was between that one and another (Lazaro 3662). Well, I went with 3101, took photos in it, even met Lazaro while I was in it and sat with my sales manager as she wrote up my order form.
Well, yesterday was my first fitting after ordering the dress 7 months ago. I sat in the room with my mom for the big unveling and IT WAS THE WRONG DRESS!. My heart just dropped and I said “That isnt my dress.”
They scurried around to find out what happened. Turns out the sales manager accidently wrote the other dress model # on the form. My heart was just broken. While I was between the two dresses, they are quite different.
It is now late August and my wedding is Nov 5. They assure me they will take care of this and that the right dress will be here in 6 weeks or so. We’ll know 100% for sure after they speak with Lazaro tomorrow. I just hope they are right about that and not just saying that to calm me down.
Also, they offered to compensate me by paying for an additional lace feature I want added to the top of the dress (lace around neckline and straps, etc that they say usuallly cost $600).
While that is nice, part of me feels that they should offer more. Free alterations, or some other discount. This is now a huge stress for me and I will be down to the wire. I just wont be as relaxed and carefree leading up to the wedding now. I think they should compensate. thoughts?

I think you will be fine and their offer is nice and reasonable since you will be getting your dress in time (if not that is a whole different problem)
I know you are sad and a bit stressed, but you will get your dress in time with enough time for alterations. I think their offer is lovely and really they do not owe you more if they can deliver what they promise.
This is under he assumption you live in the same area as the store and you can make it there when the dress comes in. If you live across country then the story may change.

*HUGS* It will all be okay! I think they’ve offered you a great compensation plan – it’s hard as a bride to keep calm, but you’ve still got time for them to remedy the situation. Don’t panic yet!

@lefeymw: Thanks for your thoughts. I want to be reasonable. We’ll know tomorrow if Lazaro can get the right dress made in time. If he confirms it then I will feel much better about the whole situation. Thanks for your feedback.

Don’t stress too much. When my dress, a Watters gown, came in 2 months ago it had flaws. I almost had a heart attack. I had 3 months until my wedding and I had paid a lot of money for a brand new gown. I asked the store to get me a new one. It turns out that although it took 6 months to make my dress the first time, the replacement came in within a few weeks. Amazing how that works.
You will get your gown and I think that what they are offering you is fair. You will have your gown in time for alterations and then some.

I just posted a thread yesterday because this same thing happened to me – the only difference is that my dress didn’t come in yet, but I went in to try on the sample again and the one they brought me was not my dress, and it turns out that they had written the wrong style number on the slip. 🙁 I’m in the same boat as you – I’m debating if I should just keep the wrong dress that they ordered, which was similar but still not MY dress, or re-order the dress I wanted and pay for 2 dresses. 🙁 At least your store offered you compensation, my store just told me that I should have double checked the style number on the slip (which wouldn’t have helped, because they use internal store codes). Good luck, I hope everything works out for you!

their offer is very nice, at least they didn’t give you the runaround and owned up to the mistake. don’t get greedy, they’re fixing the situation in a perfect, professional manner and are already giving you sizeable compensation.

@Cotton: Thanks, Cotton. Your story calms down! I guess what stresses me the most is the thought that the first order took 7 months, so I wasnt sure how they could pull it off in 6 weeks!
Thanks all for the feedback. I have no interest in being greedy at all. Just wanted to through this out there to get your opinions on the compensation. As long as I get the dress in time for the wedding I will be happy.
