Priscilla of Boston had been storing my dress before I was to get it altered because I really don’t have the closet room but in a sad turn of events, their closing forced my hand.
I had to work with what I had which meant converting the 2nd bedroom closet into “wedding dress central” (it is a LARGE dress and bag).
My mom made me paranoid before I did this saying that moths will be really attracted to it and to store it in a stand alone closet that I could purchase at Kmart or Target. I really don’t have a problem with moths (where do those suckers come from anyway) but now I’m worried.
The dress has TWO bags over it so my thought process is that it will be ok for the next few months before I go get it altered but I just wanted to know if you guys are doing anything similar. Where are you storing you dresses?
Are any of you using special moth reppellents? Do they smell? Any help would be appreciated.

I wouldn’t use the moth repellent around your dress, but it should be fine for a few months. Mine was purchased in December and has been in the closet since then, with short outings (to try on, or a few weeks being altered). I even keep mine out of the bag and just have a clean sheet over it so FH doesn’t see it, but I didn’t want to cram it back into the bag after it was steamed. Unless you have a prior problem with moths, I wouldn’t spend the money on a wardrobe. It should be fine. 🙂

My dress is in a breathable garment bag in our closet. It’s been there since July and it’s fine. I’ve taken it out a couple times and it seems the same to me. I think your dress will be fine in the closet.

Mine is in my parents guest bedroom laying out on a bed wrapped in a sheet.
Im not sure if thats the best method, but it has worked so far! 😀

Mine just hung in a spare closet in its plastic bag for 11 months.

I mean, its the same as any other garment, right? So I feel like if you don’t typically have a moth issue with your clothes, no need to worry about it too much.
Mines is probably going to just hang in a closet with the rest of my clothes.
