the pictures are of our newest finding, a bottle from some time in the 20s-40s. it says Naval Prison Farm PI on it. we found this right outside of parris island which is a marine recruit depot.
My husband and I have this strange hobby for people of our age. We trudge through mud looking for historic items washed ashore and occasionally we dig for items. We will be getting a metal detector soon to make it even more fun 🙂 we collect anything from antique bottles, marbles, Native American artifacts, and civil war relics. The best part is that we find these all ourselves and it makes it all the more fun.
so what are your hobbies that you share with your significant other? Anything unusual? Feel free to post a photo of your hobby!

I think it is an awesome hobby! I will love to find a “treasure” one day!

@Mrslovebug: When I used to live on the St. John’s River in Elkon Florida, I shared the same hobby as you!
Now my husband & I are just crazy movie fans. Seriously, we are completely obsessed and probably watch 30 movies a week.

@Mrslovebug: My husband and I also do metal detecting 🙂 We’re buying a new pin pointer and plan on going out to an abandoned building and wall on his parent’s property to search for treasures once the snow melts. Wheee!
We haven’t found anything of real value yet, but we still enjoy treasure hunting!

SO and I are saltwater reef keepers. We have two reefs so far and love going to coral conventions, saltwater fish expos, and we are members of our state’s saltwater club. I have had freshwater fish for 9 years and when I started working at the fish store, I turned him onto aquatic life. Now, we are hooked on saltwater!
Its a strange hobby in our circle of friends!

Darling Husband and I are mall walkers!
You know the old people who power walk through the mall at like 9am? And never go into any stores or buy anything?
We do that.

We do geocaching sometimes. Where we live now they are super strict about geocaches because of animals and parks canada restrictions but when we go outside of the national park we try to do a few.

@Mrslovebug: my sister and I would walk along a dried up creekbed growing up ( we lived in a town that was so small the school was 7-12th grade and had 80 kids) and that was from 2 other surounding towns!
So pretty much out in the middle of nowhere we would go out and play one time we found this perfectly round rock…. we started playing with it to find out it was an old bowling ball. It was about… oh…. 8 pounds and we carried it about 3 miles all the way home.!
My mom used it to decorate her flower bed…

Fiance and I love to play Final Fantasy XIV together. While I don’t find it strange, other people do. 😉

@Mrslovebug: Homebrewing and beer tasting. We don’t find it odd, but when people (especially men!) meet me for the first time they’re usually floored that a mid-20s chick is that into beer.

We draw crude pictures and mail them to our friends. It’s a little less unusual for him, because he’s rubbish at drawing, but I’m actually pretty darn decent at it. I just choose to do a poor job and make weird pictures.
