Yes, I know this isnt “waiting” related, unless you want to argue I’m “waiting” in what i’m starting to strongly suspect is a haunted place.
A little background: I was raised in a fundamentalist Christian household, complete with learning that demons are real and talking to ghosts is sorcery and a sin. That being said, I dont have a set of “beliefs” at this point. I waffle back and forth between believing in a “higher power”/god or nothing at all, and I dont have any solid convinctions regarding the paranormal.
All that said, I cannot deny there are some strange things happening at our place, and they all started around July when my beloved grandmother died quite suddenly of cancer (my father, too, died when I was 16). I will immediately discount the multitude of strange bumps and noises I’ve heard due to so many people around us, but it is not as easy to discredit when I’ve actually seen things move or turn on unmanned.
The most alarming incident happened right after my grandma died. We had just returned from her funeral and my boyfriend had left to grab some food. I turned on the living room tv and started touching up my makeup in the bathroom. I got distracted by something on the television and walked into the living room with a lip liner pencil in my hand, which I set on our bar before sitting down to watch tv.
No less than 10 minutes later, out of the corner of my eye, I watched the lip liner pencil roll right off the bar and onto the floor. It had been completely stationary for over 10 minutes and was situated a foot or so from the edge. Since then on a couple of occassions, I’ve experienced oscilating floor fans turning on on their own as well as the stove light under the microwave in the kitchen. Nothing terribly extreme.
This morning something else odd happened: I got up to check my cell phone that i’d turned off the night before, and found it turned on. Called my BF to ask if he’d done it and he said no. That was a little odd and has never happened before so, just taking a chance, I called out my grandmothers names and asked if she was there. I went about my routine, showering and feeding our pets. I went back into the bathroom to dry my hair and had just begun when what I can only describe as a shadow zipped between me and the bathroom counter.
I’m not going to lie, it scared the hell out of me and I left for work with no makeup and wet hair.
You are more than welcome to believe I’m making this up. You are also more than welcome to believe I’m imagining it. Frankly, I have no idea *what* the hell is going on.
Can anyone offer any insight?
