beach_lover89 :  yeah totally. I grew up in Oregon (Bend) and have a lot of family in Portland. It’s a great city full of friendly people who do things like help each other out in snow storms. (The hilly roads plus inches of ice on pavement are brutal!!)

And the guy could always switch the key hiding spot now, if his housemate is concerned…

I’ll admit, I’m not a very trusting person. I go out of my way to help others, but I wouldn’t trust someone I barely know to have access to my house. I live in an urban neighborhood and have had my car broken into on multiple occasions, so I think differently about things. Obviously he could change the key’s hiding place; I was more concerned with her being in his house, unattended. I don’t assume everyone is a criminal, but I also don’t like to provide people with temptation. I’m also not from the west coast so I know I’m not that laid back.

Maybe this story is true and if it is, definitely ask him out.

Ask.Him.Out! It’s almost 2017 for crying out loud, and like you said, you’re no damsel in distress! You’re a grown independent woman! Best that could happen – he says yes. Worst that could happen – he says no. Either way, life goes on.

Also – I feel like if he’s a good guy and had a girlfriend, you’d know it by now. You’ve been texting, you know his weekend plans, you’ve been in his house twice (once alone!). It’s pretty easy for him to slip in a mention of a girlfriend. Oh!! This just came to me – go round and ask the roommate if he has a girlfriend! It’s kind of passive, but you’all save face in front of him if he does.

Or, you could just go back to your single life and wait around for another *perfect* story that might not happen……

beach_lover89 :  Hey, I love Portland! I go there via train from Vancouver, BC. Be proud of yourself for moving to a new city and trying to get by on your own even in dangerous weather. I also get the shortage of plows and tow trucks. We’re clearly not on the eastcoast lol. I didn’t mean to imply that you’re a damsel in distress, just that you’d potentially be perceived that way by Prince Charming with reocurring circumstances. Also didn’t mean to imply you’re making any of this up! All the best and Merry Christmas!

beach_lover89 :  I wasn’t doubting you, sorry if it seemed that way 🙂 Just trying to help you get your car back. How about calling the city and asking them to send salt and plows? If multiple cars are getting stuck, it sounds like they really need to get out there.

I can vouch for the crappiness of the roads here. On the day you got stuck, I literally couldn’t leave my house because I needed to get up a teeny hill to do so. Nope. Also had to miss 2 days of work because of it. No salt on the roads (plus my bald tires). Where about in Portland are you? I work over in the John’s Landing area (SW Waterfront ish) and there are SO many hills, I had a really tough time on Friday even driving my fiance’s car there.

Snowed again a bit today :/
