I need some reassurance that I am not crazy!
I have pretty bad morning sickness (I am 10 weeks) and it is so hard to eat. But randomly something will sound so good, or at least tolerable. Last night I had pinapple, steamed edamame and ice cream for dinner. I had to spit out some hummus and pita bread. My body literally rejects things (like most veggies and all meat). What is up? Anyone else want the weirdest stuff? I am worried cause I am not eating much and when I do it is not balanced and sometimes is junk (example- last Thursday I just had to have potato skins for dinner haha).

@Pinkypez: They say it is ok as long as you are eating something. If it sounds good, eat it. If it doesn’t, stay away from it. It is normal during the first tri to lose weight and eat poorly. Come the 2nd tri you *should* feel good enough to eat better. As long as you are taking your prenatal, baby will be ok during this.

I have been able to eat fried foods haha and chocolate . Anything thats not good for me. And the other night I had a turkey dinner at 6 and then got Darling Husband to pick me up a double cheeseburger and milkshake on his way home from being out…. I was so hungry it felt like my insides were Eating each other .He was like …. But hunny you already had a turkey dinner… And then picked me up a burger and it was devoured within seconds. Don’t most people lose weight 1st trimester haha? I have been nauseous 24/7 but no actual getting sick. At this rate god knows how much weight I’ll gain.

I’m with you. 9 weeks. Body does weird stuff. I can’t open the fridge because the smell of the food in it makes me sick. I try to eat in front of the TV so I’m distracted, cuz if I think about the bites I’m taking or look at what I’m eating I get sick. I don’t keep down bananas, but burritos/gyros always sound like a good idea. It’s a very difficult time. Even feeding my cats makes my stomach turn.

Yes for sure and mine change every week. This week it is mashed sweet potatoes – I feel like I could eat a bucket of them.

Not crazy at all. I had no morning sickness in my 1st tri but SERIOUS food aversions to things I used to really enjoy (I was a real meat & veggy type of girl).
I remember sitting at the dinner table eating BBQ pork with my husband. I spit out my first bite of meat & just ate potatoes for dinner! It’ll pass! Don’t worry! You’ll want to eat real food again soon! At least it sounds like your body is trying to crave balanced things: Pineapple = carbs, edemami = protein & ice cream = fat! 🙂

@oldmatron: oh! Gyros are totally on my list! Already had them twice this week… SO GOOD!! I could eat like 50!!
At 6w3d now I haven’t had to throw up at all but I’ve been super nauseated… I try to stick to my daily food routine but I’ll miss things or do not finish them because nothing sounds good when the nausea hits hard 🙁 I’m trying to eat around 1500 cal/day but its hard!

@Pinkypez: during my first trimester I ate an Amy’s bean and cheese burrito almost every single day from weeks 8-12. I did have a red meat aversion for a while & am just now coming around to actually enjoying a good steak. I ate a bagel with cream cheese every day for 20 days… then switched to waffles & did that for 2 weeks, and now I’m on to oatmeal for breakfast every day. If it sounds good i eat it =)

@Pinkypez: 9 weeks today over here. For me, it’s been Odwalla Strawberry C Monster smoothies. I figure that’s good since I’m getting some good vitamins, but no food really sounds that good. I actually had a craving for McDonald’s this morning so I caved a afew hours ago. However, it doesn’t seem that baby appreciated it.
I lost about 15 lbs between weeks 2 and 7 just because nothing sounds good. Still doesn’t.

@Pinkypez: I didn’t eat ANY veggies before 14 weeks, and limited fruits before 12 weeks! I lived mostly on PB+J and mac+cheese and pizza for the first 12 weeks (and still lost 7lbs). Whatever you can eat!
You can always make up for it in the second trimester!

@gigglebox: mm chick fil a! I actually have two people from florida flying up who were both instructed to bring me a sandwich.
All I wanted at first was spicy food. This week I seem to be on a pickle kick. I ate a jar of pickles at one sitting twice this week.

Have you guys had cravings for anything that you normally HATE or something that you’ve never eaten before? I always wondered if it was possible to crave something you’ve never eaten before, like how would your body even know it wanted something if you’ve never had it? Hmmm

@MySunshine: I’m a vegitarian. For the entirely of my first trimester I ate cheeseburgers like they were candy! It was ALL I wanted!
