I think that you may have to try a few to see what works best for you, but I am interested because I am looking for something similar for my bridesmaid. So far the most convincing looking backless bra I’ve seen is at Victoria’s Secret because it dips low in front but may have enough contact area to actually do something.

I think you should find a lingerie shop. I’m not particularly familiar with NJ, but you should be able to find a pretty decent shop in most large cities.

I’ve had luck with {intimacy} stores – I think there’s one in manhattan?

I’m busty as well, so I know the difficulties of finding the right bra. I could tell you some of the brands I like best, but if you’re shaped differently than I am you might hate the panache bra I love, and find the mari Jo that I’ve never liked to be just right for you.

Be prepared to pay as much as $120 for a pretty plain looking strapless bra made by some of the UK brands that fit curvier girls better.

I think the width of the piece that would cover the bra is pretty thin.  I think you would really have to try on the bra with the dress to see what would work.  A lot of the good strapless bras I have that stay in place have very thick back straps that would be too wide to be concealed by the dress.

If VS bras fit you, you could try a biofit or very sexy convertible bra and see if you can move the straps around so they can be hidden under the straps! Whatever you choose, I would definitely sew in, though.

Aside from one of the adhesive, backless bras the only other oPtion I could imagine is having the seamstres alter an actual bra and add loops to your dress to fit exactly with the dress.

Not sure if this will work for your dress, but this is the one I have: http://www.herroom.com/fantasie-fl4530-smoothing-seamless-strapless-bra.shtml

I’m a 32E, and it’s AMAZING.  This thing is like gravity defying.  I can’t even tell you how awesome it is.  I’m pretty sure I paid more than that for it, but whatever, it’s totally worth it.

If you need a narrower band in the back, maybe this one: http://www.herroom.com/fantasie-fl2133-ava-underwire-molded-strapless-bra.shtml  The back band looks pretty narrow.

@emelee:  i second the recommendation of the fantasie bra. It’s the one I currently have for normal strapless wear.

I have the long line version of this for wear under my wedding dress. I tried on the short bra too. As long as you get the right size, it’s not slipping down! (this link is for the standard strapless, since that’s what you’ll need) http://www.bravissimo.com/products/lingerie/strapless-bras/evie-bridal-bra/ivory/pnn2iv/?show=16&sort=1&level=1

This option might work better with the neckline of your dress.  http://www.bravissimo.com/products/lingerie/strapless-bras/porcelain-strapless-bra/black/pnb9bl/?show=16&sort=1&level=1

I highly recommend the bras carried by this website/shop! So if you can’t find something you like in a store, this is probably a good place to look.

I think you may have trouble finding a strapless bra that has a back band narrow enough for what you need.  Here’s one that might work, however.

Regardless, this is going to be tricky.  I would recommend a skin colored bra and doing “whatever it takes” to keep it from showing.  Best of luck!
