Hey everyone! I am having such a hard time debating how to do my hair. I have a hair trial coming up next week but I’d like to go into it with a pretty firm idea of what I’m going to do. When I say this decision keeps me up at night, I’m not kidding! My dress is strapless mermaid, and I know a lot of people are in the camp of strapless dress calls for hair down. I always wear my hair down and this is how I think I look best. However, I worry that the curls will fall out by the end of the day or that I won’t look that different from what I always do. My worry with hair up is that it will be unflattering to my face (i usually part all my hair so my bad side is covered, lol) or that it will be showing too much skin. Here is me in my dress with both! This was a really messy bun so obviously if I do up it would look better than this! Also, I’m not doing half up half down. I did that for my engagement party so now it seems overdone.

Wow, you are gorgeous! And that dress is stunning. Is it a Martina Liana? The delicate lace…
Anyway, my prefernce is hair up because A)Your face is giving me so much in those two comparison photos! I feel like when its up I really get to see your face a lot more. B) To me formal gowns go best with formal hair. It’s not an everyday look, a wedding, so personally I enjoy a more elegant hairdo 🙂 C)I like wearing my hair up so it doesnt get sweaty, tangled, or otherwise compromised.

futuremrsjessicab: I voted up as it looks elegant on you, it suits your face shape, I’d definitely explore different up style options. Your dress looks gorgeous on you, suits your figure and if you can tell by a picture, your personality too.

vintagekitten: Thank you so much! That’s really sweet. It’s an Enzoani!

CatyLady: Haha, I love that you can sense that! I totally agree that it suits my personality 🙂 classic but a little whimsical! Hope that’s not too obnoxious to say about myself lol.

I voted up. As you said, it’s nice to look a bit different on your wedding day and it looks more bridal. I myself have the same dilemma and wanted my hair all down and simple, but have started to reconsider it. It’s a once-in-a-lifetime day. There are so many others to have our hair flat. 🙂

If your hair is off your shoulders then the lovely bodice of your dress will stand out more.

Are you wearing a veil or headpiece? I’m trying to decide the same thing with my strapless but I think I’m going for my original idea of down. I’m just really comfortable with it down and rarely wear it up. So I would do what you’re comfortable with!

up looks more sophisicated and it goes well with the dress you picked

sweetness09: definitely a veil! I loved how my hair looked when it was down at my trial, but even just sitting on my couch for the next 2-3 hours I noticed the curls starting to fall out. I’m thinking of going Up just for that reason since it will be such a long day. however, my hair stylist has a package that I could opt for where she will come and change my style at any point in the day so I was thinking of doing down for the pictures and church and up for the reception. Ahhh! So indecisive.

futuremrsjessicab: You look pretty with your hair down, but the hair up adds something else! you look really elegant and I agree it sucks to worry about your hair drooping towards the end of the day. That’s also partly why I am choosing to do my hair up although I always leave my hair down.
Look a bit diffrent for your big day 🙂 you can definitely pull it off!
