My dress style is Mikaella 1406.
I had my dress fitted (3 fittings actually) and have already scheduled the final pickup for a few weeks from now, but I keep wondering if it is too tight.
It came in a little big (I was in between sizes and ordered the bigger size). After the first fitting, the seamstress took it in so much it wouldn’t even zip halfway up!
She let it out a little, but it is still very tight. I have to push the sides back and it takes some tugging pulling to get it to zip.
I’m wondering if I should call in and go in for another try-on. I’m worried that either I won’t be able to dance, I’ll feel sick from the tightness, or the zipper will pop halfway through the night.
For girls with strapless dresses, how tight is your dress?

I had a strapless dress for prom that was VERY tight. I was afraid I wouldn’t be able to sit down – or breathe for that matter. The seamstress insisted that it was the correct tightness. When I got home, my mom (she has sewing experience) let it out at the hips so I could at least sit (and eat for that matter). If you’re not comfortable in it, voice your opinion until you are comfortable. It definitely stayed up the whole night!
ETA: It was the same silhouette as your dress.

My dress was strapless, and it was very tight when I put it on, but throughout the day it got looser and looser… By the end of the day, I was having to pull it up, because it wasn’t tight enough.

@abbyful:
As of the last fitting my dress was huge on me cause like you I was in between sizes and the store made me order the bigger size of course… When she pinned the dress it was tight, but not skin tight to the point where I couldn’t move or breathe 🙂 I think you should be able to sit/dance/zip the dress easily enough without stress or pain.

@abbyful: I would wait till its closer to your wedding…with all the stress of planning your wedding, do you think it is possible you might end up unknowingly losing more weight just days before the big day? IF so, then you might want to just try it on again for like an hour and see if you can walk and sit down…it also like the previous poster above mentioned, will start to stretch out a little when you wear it… I wore a strapless for a party, and it was actually too tight and hard to zip up when i put it on…BUT while i was out during the night, it started getting looser and I had to keep asking my Fiance and friends to help me pull it up which was super annoying… Anyways, just wanted to give you some insight..hehe

Thanks for the replies everyone! If it will loosen up during the night, I think it will be fine at its current tightness.
I don’t think my weight will change in the next month, I’ve been the same weight the last 10+ years.

Yes it will definitely loosen up as the night goes on but make sure it’s not so tight that in the first few pictures, and the pictures of the ceremony, it’s not pinching out any unsightly fat. Don’t get me wrong, I’m not saying your fat, but I know that when I bought my dress they had me clamped into it and I had fat pieces rolling out in the corners (around my armpits is the best description I guess) over the top in the front, and of course the dreaded back fat. Tighter might be better but make sure you are comfortable with how it looks as it is because it won’t get loose until the reception.
