She should try Elizabeth Fillmore or Nicole Miller dresses.  They both have flowy low-back styles.  I’d be surprised if you could find strapless and low back in a silky fabric.  They just have no support.

what about a lighter satin, like charmeuse? my dress is strapless with low back, slim a line shape in a light charmeuse satin, because I’m getting married in hot weather! It is corseted, but then I would expect most strapless gowns are?

Have you checked out Claire Pettibone? A lot of her dresses are low-backed, in a light fabric. They’re not usually strapless though, because low backs make it tricky support-wise.

I don’t have photos of me in it, but here’s a link to my dress…http://www.sinceritybridal.com/wedding_dress/3757

its much more fit and flar on me cos I am short and have hips, but it your friend is slim it will prob look more similar to the model photo…there’s a lot of gowns about in this fabric once you start to look, I tried on quite a few as I needed the lightweight material cos of the climate here! I also tried one on similar to the one below…

cant remember if this is low back tho?

Low back, fitted, and strapless don’t really coincide structurally.  The solution is getting what they call a “wishbone” which is a rigid steel “v” that frames the backless sides.  It provides tension for a fitted front without requiring straps.
