I know that bridal dress sizes run smaller than regular clothes however some seem to run smaller than others. I’m normally a size 8 or medium (occasionally I’ll wear something in a size 10) but almost every single dress I tried was WAY too small. Some didn’t have sizes on the tag (that I could see anyway) but a few did… I tried on a dress labeled size 12 and it was ridiculously small, it was as if I were trying on street size 4 or even smaller, I probably had a 5″ gap in the back. But then there were other dresses I tried on (not sure of the size) that fit perfectly. I keep reminding myself that the number on the tag doesn’t matter and no one will know what size I’m wearing when I get married but I’m just amazed that a size “12” (which should normally be too big) is so small! So I’m wondering, what is your normal clothing size and what bridal size did you order?

my Normal street size is like 8-10 and my dress was a 10 (I’m pretty sure lol). The shop I got it from measured me and they do bust waist and hip measurements and say their advice is to order largest of the 3. I was an 8 in bust, 10 in waist, and 12 in hips. They suggested the 12 but I ordered the 10 (which was the same size I tried on) because I wanted to lose 10 lbs before wedding and the size 10 was just a little too snug in waist/hips.
HOWEVER.. I did have a dress from Davids bridal also (long story) that was a size 6 and that fit me.. so it’s just like jeans.. it depends on the designer! Don’t stress over your size dress. It’s not like it’s going to be advertised at your wedding and people will judge you by it! 🙂 the only people that will know is you and your store. Don’t even talk about it while you’re trying on to whoever you bring with you. It doesn’t matter as long as you feel beautiful!

I always wear between 6/8 and I bought a Pronovias gown and it’s a 12. The dress falls good on my hips but loose on the chest and waist area.

I think it depends on the designer. I’m a street size 0-2, and my Hayley Paige dress is a size 2. However, it’s possible that I would need a larger size from a different designer.

I’m a 6/8 and bought a 10 (allure). According to the size chart, my bust was an 8, waist a 10, and hips in between a 10 and 12.

I wear a size 6 or 8 depending on brand. When I was shopping, I could fit in to some samples just fine but there were a quite a few that were ridiculously tight and a couple that I literally could NOT get over my butt. Like the attendant came in, tried to pullI and gave up. There were definitely some size 12s that I could not try on. It was almost laughable, like how would someone bigger or curvier than me comfortably shop? I left the first shop feeling so bad. Don’t worry about it, bee. Here’s a pic of my size 10 dress I chose with no clips or anything for reference.

Completely depends on the designer. I usually wear a size 10-12 and I ordered a size 12 Mori Lee dress that actually had to be taken up a little. I’ve heard Mori Lee dresses run more to size than other designers.

I’m a street size 10, and my dress was a 12. It fits perfectly in my hips, but has to be taken in up top because I am a classic pear shape. Big hips, no boobs.

I’m typically a 4 and my Lazaro dress was a 10 and fit like a glove so I didn’t need alterations.

I typically wear a 4-6, and my Stella York is a size 6. According to their size chart, I’m a size 2 bust, size 4 waist, and a size 6 in the hips, lol. Alterations are in my future, obviously.

I’m a 0 and my Allure dress I ordered is a 4 because I got a booty.

I’m usually a size 8/10 and the Carol Hannah size 10 skirt sample was slightly snug so we ended up ordering a size 12. But then I tried on her bodices and the size 10 sample was slightly big. It’s not all that surprising since I have a small waist but am very hippy.

I’m typically a Australian 8/10 and got my dress in a US 6, which I think is Australian 10! I’m pretty sure I should have actually gotten the 4 though, I know the 6 is going to be too big 🙁 oh well, alterations!

I’m a street size 6-8 and am wearing a size 12 in my Hayley Paige gown. It is a quite loose in the top area, I’ll definitely need to get it taken in, but otherwise it’s perfect. Every designer is so different!

My street size is a 4 or 6, or size small. Im curvy though..I ordered a size 12 wedding dress just to comfortably fit my hips and so I could sit down lol, but it will have to be taken up in the waist and bust.
I tried on Vera Wang bridesmaid dress yesterday, and the size 8 in that dress was problematic too. I would have to wear a size 10 in the dress, and again, get it altered down in the waist. I wouldnt worry too much about it…formal dresses are so off in the sizing.
