justwaiting1230 :  Once you have the herpes virus in your body, it is always there . It goes dormant on the nerve root. You can get a medication from your doctor to use at the first sign of a flareup to minimize the blisters.

You can look up a hundred ways to deal with stress, but the thing that helped me years ago was realizing that all my stressing and worrying about things never really accomplished a thing. All it did was suck the energy and life out of me, such that I got nothing done. Just tell yourself that it is a waste of time stressing over things you can’t change. Focus your energies on things you can do something about.

justwaiting1230 :  omg yes. That and a lack of sleep. I was so worried I’d get one on my wedding day because the week before was AWFUL. But luckily no wedding day cold sore….though I woke up with one the next morning 😂 My advice is abreva, ice, and talk to your doctor about a valtrex script

Get a script for Valtrex (vala- or acyclovir) STAT! I get them too, and start taking it the moment I feel one coming. Haven’t had a sore break the surface and do the whole oozy, gross – you know – thing in years. I’m sorry you’ve got two right now, that must be awful 😮

justwaiting1230 :  No. My script is one big pill every 12 hours for 3 days. I usually end up taking it for two days, and then half for the 3rd day and shit tons of abreva till it’s gone. Probably overkill, but I am aggressive about getting.it.gone!

The daily dose is for HSV II (genital warts). Which reminds me, make sure you wash your hands frequently, literally anytime you touch your mouth area! You don’t want the virus to spread there, or worse, get into your eyes! It can blind you. (cruel irony, try not stressing about going blind or giving yourself an STD when stress gets us into this mess!)

As for your stress, I recommend this guided meditiation to everyone! All you have to do is sit, close your eyes, and listen! Seems hokey but this really really works. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=D8oKWQiEWYs&t=161s

In addition to acyclovir, I would recommend supplementing with L-Lysine.  Read some reviews about it online, people swear by it for herpes flares

justwaiting1230 :  I got one of these two weeks before the wedding. Go to the doctor. They gave me a prescription antibiotic cream and an antibiotic and it healed quickly. I think you need to just make a list and start checking things off it when its done. worry about it. Everything will be fine. I know everyone says this but it really will. I remember getting nervous about a cake choice and now that seems funny. Usually if you pick a professional place or vendor everything turns out fine.

L-lysine 1000 mg a day GREATLY reduces the number, severity, and duration of outbreaks for those in my family who struggle with fever blisters.  You get it over the counter at nutritional store.

Im the same way girl, except I get them any time anything big happens! First days of school, new job, big event, fertility treatment, etc. the stress can lower your immune system big time, so be careful of getting sick too! As long as your stressing I would keep a multivitamin plus vitamin C in me, and some abreva and valtrex by my side!

Try not to stress, hugs!

Also its good to stay away from certain foods – nuts, red wine, acidic foods, salty foods (especially pickled foods). I was just reading about this yesterday.

I take L-Lysine. I was reading though that L-LYsine could have a negative effect on your kidney (or liver? can’t remember now), so I try to only  take it in the few weeks leading up to a big event (like my wedding), rather than taking it every single day. I also have a prescription cream and pill to take in the event of a flare up
