- Wedding: October 2012
Planning the wedding has been great – when it doesn’t involve my mother. We are opposites. I was never very close to her growing up and I don’t find her to be a great person now that I am an adult.
When my Fiance asked my parents permission my mother’s response was, “You pick her, you’re stuck with her. I wouldn’t do it.”
My Fiance and I are paying for the wedding. We have allowed each set of parents to invite 80 people we are paying for, if there is anyone over it is on them. My parents gave us this list of 50 people. We asked for confirmation, they added 6 more people. We confirmed again before ordering the STDS and they added 6 more people. We ordered the stds and they added 9 more people. My bridesmaids have been great and said they would give up their stds. I confronted her on adding more and more people and said we needed a solid, non-changing list and it would be final. She called me all sorts of names.
Our wedding website is finished. My brother asked for the website address and password. I asked him not to share it with random people because it contains personal information about the wedding. He flipped out. My mother then called and flipped out and told me I am being completely ridiculous and a raving B and I really need to stop being so crazy.
I know it’s only my side of the story, but I did just need to vent. My poor bridesmaids have heard this over and over and over again.
Have you ever had bad experiences with your mom while planning? What did you do? How did you deal with the stress?
