Why not make your sister and friend co-MOHs?

@bakerella: This is what I did, sister and best friend as Maid and Matron of honors. You can do this as well, OP. Awkward Q, but how’s the wedding being paid for? If you and Fiance are covering it, then you can just make sure your parents know that you value their input, but this is YOUR (you and FI’s) wedding, and you will plan it as you please.

As for the guest list issue with Future Mother-In-Law, tell Fiance to remind her again and give her a deadline, otherwise no one from her side will be receiving their Save the Date. I’ve quickly learned that you’ve got lots of people to manage when planning your own wedding, so you and Fiance need to make decisions and be firm.

Don’t let everything stress you out you are supposed to enjoy planning! I would make them Co-MOH… My sister and Best friend are going to be my Matron and Maid of honor. As far as everyone questioning everything you do.. I would tell them nicely but firmly that it’s your wedding and you know what you want and that their opinion is valued but you will make the final decision. Try to enjoy it!!!

@Jenbee: What I did was talk to my sister, and explain that I love Matron of Honor as well, and as long as my sister wouldn’t mind sharing the honor, I’d really like to ask her to serve as Maid/Matron of Honor as well. Then, my sister and I took my friend out for dinner, and asked her there together, so it was like her and my sister were more of a team and my sister helped to make the decision to share the honor.

However, if you don’t know that your sister will be super thrilled, I still say it’s your wedding, your friend that you love, and maybe you’ll have a ‘this is what I’m doing’ talk with your sister, rather than a ‘would you mind’ like I did.
