I am so stressed out about picking a boys name! I had a list of names that I loved but hubby didn’t like any of them! We cant seem to agree on any of them! The closest we came to agreeing was Peyton, but I had that name picked for a girl not a boy! I really don’t fussy unisex names on boys. I have the one tree hill female association with that name where as he has the Peyton Manning association with it. The other thing that makes it complicated is that our last name is the same as a brand of vehicle (example “Ford”) so any names that could also be a last name sounds like the name of a car dealership to me! uh here were the names that I liked but hubby didn’t…. any suggestions or input is welcome 🙂

Looooove Declan! What are the kinds of names your Hubby leans towards ususally? Like old english names (Edward, Henry), unisex names, family names, etc.?

Ask your husband to make a list of names he likes. Go get a baby-name book if you have to. I’m not really crazy about any of the names on your list either, but he can’t just shoot down your list and not offer any suggestions of his own.

missstarling: What names does your husband like?
I’d have each of you make a list with at least 15 names that you like, and then see if you can pick at least 3 names from the others list that you like, then decide which of those names you each like the best.

I agree with PPs that he needs to make a list too. Each write a list of your top 10-15, then pick your top three from the other person’s list. From there work out which ones sound the best with your surname and think about any middle names that you would like to include and that should help narrow it down to one.

missstarling: I’m sorry but Linden? Really?
Definitely have him make a list and see if anything overlaps or comes close. When in doubt family names are always a nice idea. Or you could name him John and be done with it.

DanceawaytheNight: Declan was my absolute fave, he didn’t fussy it all. My mom didn’t like it at all either but I wasn’t worried about her lol Darling Husband and i laid in bed looking at names late one night and he picked a bunch, then the next day when i was talking about the names that he picked he swore that he never picked any of them! He said he must have been half asleep! I was like WTF? i don’t know if he really didn’t like them or if he just thougth about it more afterwards and realized they were horrible with our surname. ugh so frustrating.
We will hopefully sit down again tonight and look at some more!
